Is wet-dry sandpaper more expensive as normal sandpaper?
Sandpaper you can use for wetsanding is usually only a few cents more than the cheap stuff for wood. Reason being, you don't want to use sandpaper made for woodworking anyways.

I realize this is a bit late, but... Always wet sand when you can. As mentioned, it keep the paper from clogging so it lasts longer, but more than that it lubricates the surface so the paper is less likely to dig and gouge at any point.

There is a reason you wet sand paint, and it isn't just to prevent the paper from clogging.

When wet sanding, keep a spray bottle full of water next to you, and spray the surface often. You want damn near a flow of water over the surface. Also, get a sanding block. They are pieces of stiff foam that you wrap the paper around. Saves your hand, and makes the job easier and more even. Be very careful on corners or tightly rounded areas, because the increased pressure will push through thin layers of paint (like automotive and spray paints) in just one good swipe. If you are sanding over a hole, this will also occur. When in doubt, put less pressure on the sandpaper.

And don't forget, when you are all said and done with paint... CLEAR COAT IT.

Everyone leaves that out, and their finishes look poor. Yes, you indeed can get matte, satin, and glossy clear coats, and yes their application and finishing methods vary.
