Pretty much. Microsoft has been nothing but a massive failure company for several years now.

No it wouldn't. They could have made it so that you have to register your XBox 360 games via Live online, then when you hook up your XBox One, you can they DOWNLOAD, for free, the games you already own. I seriously doubt a recompile would have broken the bank of Microsoft.

Backwards compatibility across architectures will always be nearly impossible. About the only company that really pulled it off was Apple, and they still had issues with their PPC->x86 move in 10.4

Nintendo is decent at supporting the last generation of their games. (DS, Wii, Wii U, 3DS, GBA)

Alright, install Windows 7 on a Galaxy S 4.

It's not as simple as flipping the "backwards compatible" switch.

Maybe they should make sure their newer architecture is similar to their older one? You know, like what Nintendo does?

So the new Z87 motherboards need to support socket 775 Celerons?

I'm sorry, but sticking with PowerPC would have held back the new consoles, they went to what had better performance. Keep in mind the new Wii U has a completely anemic CPU and GPU, I'd rather have good performance. The x86 move was the best choice, but there's no way it'll be able to run 360 games.

Halting innovation because you want to run old stuff is a bad idea.

It's a shame really because my first console a sega genisis was amazing at sonic, my second console a PS1 was the greatest syphon filter/ spyro gaming experience and when xbox came out it took the reigns. SO many good games, I remember ESPN NFL 2K something.. IT WAS AWESOME, way better than madden (but that's EAs fault)

ANYWAY, the xbox was the greatest thing ever and I was totally going to get a 360 except it had no appeal to me. I got into PC gaming and eventually I bought a friends used PS3 and all his games.... I play very rarely and any new console will be the same. The idea that I couldn't borrow a friends game and that my console is ALWAYS watching me is not only gross, it's downright dispicable.

Screw you MSFT, I'm going home and if PS4 tries to pull this "no used game / always online" crap so be it, I really don't need to buy a new console.

ALAS OCN community do NOT worry, the minions out there will buy xbox ones and PS4s by the thousands for COD thumb.gif

All we saw was the new CoD which looked absolutely dreadful...
Doesn't that pretty much round up every title after COD4? How amusing though that their stocks went down and Sony's went up hahaha. People are sick of Microsoft and if Linux didn't completely suck at playing Windows games I would have switched and never looked back at Windows.
