ugh fx sucks for (most) games, go with a phenom x4. Half the price, similar performance as FX. No need wasting your money.
The i5-3570K all around is best for gaming, as the vast majority of games only care about IPC per core performance.
Hi I'm looking for the absolute cheapest proccesor that will fit my needs I want a proccesor that will not bottleneck a gtx 650ti at all I will be playing Battlefield 3, battlefield4, far cry 3, skyrim. I will also be recording with fraps in the background. I will be playing at 1080p probably on medium. I have no amd, Intel preference and fanboys who make up benchmarks stay the hell away. And I don't care if the proccesor is old or new. ,athlon, core2duo ect. One preference though no phenom 965 I've had some bad problems with one I hate it don't suggest it. Thank you for your time I'm just looking for the cheapest proccesor to fit my needs.
If you can't get the i5-3570k/2500k, then the Phenom X4 is the best gaming chip per price. CPUs don't really bottleneck GPUs, at least, not in any significant capacity. You have to understand, that games tax both the CPU and GPU - AI, pathing, collisions, that's all the CPU. Explosions, lighting, AA, shadows, that's all the GPU. It sounds like you are playing very GPU intensive games, so just go with a Phenom X4 and until you can get a 7950 I wouldn't get anything else.
What problems have you had with a phenom x4? How can you say don't suggest it, you hate it, if it's user error or a faulty component, which can happen with anything? If you don't want the Phenom X4 for a completely illogical reason, then you need to go with the i3-3220. or why dont you get the phenom 955 or 960t or 975 if it's specifically the 965 that's the problem...
FX is too expensive, they don't perform any better than the Phenom x4 for the vast majority of games. They perform a little better due to overclockability, but not worth nearly double the price point... If all you have is a 650TI, then your budget is seriously limited and you shouldn't really be buying an FX, you should be buying an Athlon II or Phenom II and then setting aside your budget until you can afford a 7950.
People are all recommending bad FX chips here because you say no phenom, it'd help if you said why no phenom... if you hate the phenom then you are going to be sorely dissapointed with FX.
