AM3+ Mobo Upgrade

Thread Starter
Hey guys,
Been really into upgrading my pride and joy gaming rig and i was wondering whether there was much of a reason to get a AM3+ mobo with PCI 3.0 to utilise the full potential of my new card. At the moment i have a ASUS M5A99X EVO and i was wondering whether there was a AMD board with PCI 3.0 as i've heard they are uncommon and also whether theres any point in terms of features, as my board right now has that ASUS Fan Xpert stuff and i know some have other fancy functions tongue.gif

Any ideas would be nice, and for reference i do overclock so i'd need one which could handle the abuse.

Love Buxty wink.gif

If i am not mistaken, no AMD boards support PCIe 3.0. Even if they did there is very little to no benefit in real life experience yet.

IMO there is no point in changing your MB.

Your rig is pretty sound, save the money for another time thumb.gif

ASUS is making third generation motherboards that have PCI E 3.0 support, but i have yet to see them in any stores. check them out on the website though!

Yeah it looks like the only one ASUS offer is the Sabertooth 990FX Gen3 R2.0 but i can't find it in the UK anywhere only from an Amazon seller for around 160 with no details or anything...sounds a bit sketchy.

At the moment there is no Card that can fully utilize PCI E 2.0 x16 so no point in PCI E 3.0 no gains by going that route
