Sorta weird situation...need advice

Thread Starter
So back in late Dec. I wanted to upgrade finally from my Q6600. I was looking at buying a 3770k because I had mainly been needing extra processing power for live streaming (video encoding). I bought all the parts I needed except for the processor. I have a friend that lives semi close to a Microcenter and he said he might be able to pick me up the 3770k. Obviously a no brainer, or so I thought. Without getting into all the details (suffice to say it involved a lot of hope and "It'll be this week, I swear"), this Microcenter purchase never happened and I've been sitting on these same parts for about 5 months now.

Now as you know, Haswell is right around the corner. I'm pretty sure I can reuse everything I have for it except for the motherboard obviously. I can probably resell the motherboard (P8Z77-V LK) on ebay fairly easily as its never been opened, probably taking a $20-30 loss at most (or so I hope). Do you think its worth doing all this for Haswell? Currently Newegg has the 3770k for only $280, which is 40 less than then the 4770k MSRP. I notice in that leaked Chinese test, it showed some gains in MKV encoding. I'm unsure if this would be of any use to me livestreaming as that uses the xh264 library.

Anyway gents, let me know what you think.

I think it is worth the wait seeing as you do not already own the processor. The performance gains may be minimal, but at least you will have the new motherboard that will last a few upgrades if you so choose.
