P5N32-E SLI
CORE 2 E6300 w/ Zalman 9700
Corsair PC2 6400 Dominator
GeForce 8800GTS
2 x Raptors ...

My new system. Not shooting for bragging rights, I just hope I can get this chip OCed 1000Mhz.
This MB will support the next Quad-Core that comes out next year so I am good.
I have been researching and calling MFCs to find the right memory for this MB. I hear it is very picky. After many calls...
Patroit hasn't tested this MB
OCZ I couldn't get a hold of
Kingston only tested their value RAM (overpriced)
Corsair recommended the Dominator
...

I was being extra picky because of the limitation of DDR when you install 4 memory modules. Too much stress on the memory controller or whatever the case may be. I wanted to get single sided modules, I had a theory that it I would run into less problems when I did install 4 modules. I hope this RAM will do the job.

I know this isn't the best time to buy, but... lets just say I was forced to... (its a long story)

Spend Less on that memory and more on GFX card. The Dominators are not worth the price. You can go for some nice G. Skill, Crucial, or Corsair(not rec. by me). Get at least a 7-series if yours going to nvidia.

EDIT:

Don't ask the people who sell the memory which memory to buy. They are of course going to try and sell a more expensive pair.

I'd get an Asus P5B Deluxe over the 680i Board. Cheaper and a better overclocker. (ok, no SLI). Also, I'd drop the Raptors, and get a pair of 250GB Seagate Perpendicular Recording technology drives. Then, use the money saved for a better video card.

As far I know, there aren't that many issues with the memory controller and 4 sticks. That's an AMD issue only. Intel rigs never had that problem . Yes, some extra stress, but never any real problems on the Intel side of things.

And I'd also stay away from Corsair... esp. after their latest issue... suddenly replacing chips on their RAM without saying anything.

G.Skill, Team Xtreem, Crucial... that'd be it for me.

I already own the Raptors... and I will always own the Raptors... theres nothing like 2+ raptors in a stripe.

PMR rocks, another stripe array is in my future

I agree. Raptors are not much better then the Perps right now. I just got my two 250GB Perps and I had 2 Raptors in RAID 0 and there is absolutely no difference in performance.

8800GTS

I'll have to see some benchmarks from you on that

...I'll wait for the Raptor with PMR I need to be quicker than fast

Ya, I read about Corsair replacing their chips... after I (edit: another cuss word) bought the dominator. But as long as it all works out I dont care.

I wouldn't go that far right now. Just upgrade to something in the 7 series. Raptors with PMR? When are they supposed to arrive??

Yes, in the future, along with 4gb RAM. and a Quad core upgrade sometime when the price is right. And then another PSU when I do go SLI. And I'll need 2 Stripe arrays and then it'll be a complete system.

What's the PSU you're planning? A dual 8800GTS rig does not need two PSUs. A good 750W PSU like the PC Power & Cooling Quad, or the Silverstone 750W should be more than enough to handle that rig with ease
