Backing up Windows 7 User files from another PC

My friend's laptop got a virus and it looks like the Windows install has become corrupted. I'm going to reinstall a fresh copy of Windows on it, but she wants me to salvage her files. I've connected the hard drive to my PC and it reads just fine, unfortunately the files are in her User folder and it appears I've run into a permission problem. I can't even open her User folder to see the files. Is there any work around I can use to save the files?

Ah, nevermind I've found the correct settings in advanced permissions. And admin can feel free to delete this thread.
