Gigabyte HD 7870 low benchmark results??? - Page 2

Does it run on the stock OC settings? If you're seeing artifacts, then i would take it back. Never had a Asus gpu, but i heard they were good, especially with cooling. Something just doesn't seem right with that gpu. If it were me, I would return it and grab another 1. What gpu driver are you using at the moment? And do you have anything running in the background when running 3dMark11? If you do, then that could be the problem also.

edit: Try running Valley1.0 ( at extreme HD setting) and see what you get. With 1150/1350 clocks ( or stock clocks)

edit 2: What gpu were you running before the 7870? If Nvidia, maybe you didn't get all of the old driver off your system?

It does run on stock settings, at the very first test, it reaches just below 7000, but now it just dropped by 120-200. I ran a Asus 7770 so no nVidia on my computer. The thing with Asus is that its voltage is locked and I don't think I can overclock it as far as I can with this one.

All my tests are done right after startup so I would say minimum hidden operations.

I will check the driver version when I get back. And I will try running Valley 1.0

The powercolour 7870 LE is also on sale for the same price and it looks dam close to a 7950. Should I get that instead? I don't know how well the cooling is since it only got 1 fan..

I tested via 3Dmark 11 using your settings and got 1100 scores lower than your graphics score...wow

If that is the case then, i would take it back as something is not working properly with it. The 7870 le is a better deal for the money. I bought my 7870 about 3 weeks before the xt/le version dropped. I would of grabbed that instead. thumb.gif

edit: With my settings and a 4.3 oc on cpu, i get 34.9 or 40 fps in Valley 1.0.
