600t reverse atx

Thread Starter
i just ordered 2 aquagrafix gpu blocks (the model with a coolant window) for my gtx titans. the problem with windowed gpu blocks is that the windows face down when installed.

so, i'm thinking of taking a 600t, which i think is a very good looking case, and reversing it.

what i'm wondering (and I've searched to no avail) is if anyone has any first hand knowledge or experience with this. i'm lucky enough to have a tigerdirect store within driving distance, so i bought one, and it seems to me that would be a very simple procedure -- just drill out the rivets and switch top and bottom.

anybody see a problem with that?

anybody know of a case that is reverse atx stock?

can anyone think of a better way to showcase my gpu blocks?

I have never done something like that but I would assume it would be much more complicated than reversing it. A few quick issues I can see are;
1) a complete 180 rotation wouldn't work as the motherboard tray would be on the wrong side. And I would think moving this would be a fair amount of work.
2) the stand off location for the motherboard would be incorrect.

Pretty sure I had more but forgot. Whati can suggest is look into to the silverstone raven series and fortress series. They have rotated motherboards.

reverse atx cases have been done. they do, in general require some mods, but the motherboard tray stays in the same position relative to the io panel and slots.

it makes the case sort of left handed. not exactly a mirror image -- the side window would be visible when viewed from the left instead of the right. the power supply mount is at the top-rear, and below that the pcie slots, and below that the io panel.

so, the standoff locations are the same.

yes, i thought of the raven. but i think that case would still have my gpu block windows facing away from me. this time toward the back instead of down.

took a closer look at the raven rv02. it would have the video cards facing forward. they also have a reverse atx case, the rv04 with video cards facing up.

the optimal choice then depends on whether i put it on my desk, or on the floor. forward facing is better for on the desk; upward facing is better for on the floor.

i still like the 600t styling better.

decisions, decisions.

Actually someone did 1 here ( in OCN). Think it may have been a mod of the month. About 1 year ago i think. Let me look.

just looked at ttl's video. water cooling options for rv02 not adequate. also, the water cooling that you can do relatively easily results in a kind of cumbersome configuration. Also there's no space for a nice reservoir and pump (i'm not fond of bay reservoirs).

too bad... i was warming up to the rv02.

tj11? ginormous, and $650.

Did you look at the motm that i posted. I believe he did exactly what you were talking about doing with the 600t. Looks really good too. thumb.gif

Thanks for the link. Quite a project.

Unfortunately, I don't have the metalworking skills to replicate the work done in that build.

I'm on hold for the moment. Working on a Switch 810 build, which I hope to get around to documenting and posting.

I've changed my mind about the 600t after looking at this.
