Extremely low mice?

Howdy

I've been thinking of getting a fingertip mouse for my occasional RTS gaming and desktop use. Perhaps even FPS, though I doubt anything can beat a nice palm grip mouse for me at FPS. Thing is, so far all dedicated fingertip mice I've tried have the same base problem: they're too high. AFAIK, the most natural and relaxed position your hand can have when it lays on your desktop dekstop is somewhat similar to what comes naturally when typing on a keyboard. The higher the M1/M2 buttons are, the more you need to deviate your fingers from their natural position creating unnecessary strain.

I think it's pretty easy to see what I mean if you put your hands naturally on the keyboard, lift them up without changing their posture and trying to lift your fingertips 2 - 3 cm. When you relax your hand the fingers easily go back to the "typing position"

So I wonder if there are any decent mice with as low as possible buttons and overall profile, like closer to 1 cm or even less height for buttons?

Actually if you are typing correctly you hands shouldn't be flat at all while at rest on the home row. They should look like this:

But if you want a 'low' mouse look at the Zowie FK, or maybe a sensei.

That's exactly what I mean with natural position. The higher the mouse is the more "flat" it forces your hand/fingers to be, unless you compensate for it with your wrist which again creates tension.

I haven't found FK to have that low buttons, even G100s seems to have closer to 2 cm height

Hard to say, still looks like closer to 2 cm.

What I'm looking for is a mouse with the least... mouse to disrupt your hand's natural position.

This baby is the closest I've got so far. By keeping your fingers at the very end of the mouse

Of course, it's horrid in every other way, and it doesn't support my fingers much when I hold it like that tongue.gif

Kana, Kinzu v2 and maybe the Zowie FK/AM or the G100s could work for you, everything else pretty much has a high Arc in the back and stays flat on top. I know that problem too, i wanted a lighter ambidextrous mouse for faster/more precise movement but most of them just feel unnatural, and even after 2 years i am still switching between them(and i have a lot) because no shape is perfect for me. frown.gif

Damn, Kana/Kinzu looks like the first decent mouse that's actually pretty low at the buttons. Shame it's got the adns-9500 sensor, but I might still get one at some point. Good enough for desktop/RTS.

E: Dunno if they're too long when you keep your fingers at the end of the buttons, though.

You're right, it's weird how no manufacturer has nailed the mouse that lets your hand to stay as close to the natural position as possible and weighs little.

have you looked at the Roccat Lua? It is a fairly small mouse that is beveled at the front. I find that it is most comfortable when using it in the way you seem to be describing....its also pretty inexpensive

Lowest mouse I have would be my RAT 3 for what it's worth.

Again, looks somewhat ok. Hard to say if optimal thanks to Roccat not providing dimensions.

Maybe I'll get an Apple, lol (not)
