Even with the patch Nvidia still has better frame timing in both single and multi-gpu situations. Unless AMD does something drastic with their current prototype drivers between now and official release.
I see, If Nvidia doesn't drop the price of this thing by the time those drivers roll out i'm going to get a second 7970 as well. I think with two of those i will be set till the 8K release whenever the heck AMD get off their butts and release it.

Are you seriously going to debate against the GTX700 being Nvidias latest generation of GPUs? Like really man? Really?

LOL. you may want to rephrase that to "are you seriously going to debate that the 600 and 700 series are the same generation."

and yes i will because the GK110/GK104/GK107 are all a year old.

Well, on the plus side, they priced it high enough that I don't have to feel bad for skipping it.  Not sure what emoticon best illustrates my face right now - is there one for when the corner of your mouth turns up like a smile but the center is all turned down in a frown?

The 700-series is indeed a new generation, but not a new micro-architecture as it still uses the same Kepler uarch as the 600-series.

The 800-series will presumably have the new Maxwell uarch.

Didn't we try to tell you guys? There is NO pricing tradition or precedent or anything else. Pricing is decided by the market at the time, period. There is nothing from AMD to stop Nvidia from doing this and they did it, just like we were trying to tell you...

The 8800 Ultra was a really bad deal compared to the titan.

With the Titan you have 3+ months head start compared to the 780 users
You get a 17% bump in cuda cores
you get a 100% bump in the memory amount
And you will most likely get a bit better OCing potential seeing the stock clocks in the 780 are higher

The 8800 ultra was an overclocked 8800GTX....

I know some people don't get it and that's exactly why all the price arguments were there. Some people just didn't understand the concept of the Titan or what sort of a card it was supposed to be. This is the tech industry, products are outdated before you unbox them. I'm just happy GK110 is trickling down to lower price points. More new toys for everyone, keeps communities alive thumb.gif

Hopefully AMD responds with price cuts, I'd like to pick up 2x 79XX cheap.
The GTX 680 is still a viable option even with the new 780 and Titan. Heck, even my gf's GTX 480 still handles games nicely. Nvidia is just doing the same thing that AMD did when the 7000 series came in. Milking all the enthusiast for money until AMD releases something. My advise is to wait! I predict that when AMD 8000 series drops, GTX 700 series cards will decline in price.
$650 GTX 780? Can't wait for the $800 GTX 880 and the $1200 GTX 980. Absurd pricing. But not surprising. I expect it won't go down until AMD releases 8000 series.
