doh.gif it doesn't work like that....
then pray tell just how does it work?

and why not disclose your facts to all that have constantly harped that the 700 series was not more than a "refresh" - which i believe you were also on that bandwagon . .

Nvidia is still better in single.
Typo, correct to 680.
http://techreport.com/review/24703/amd-radeon-hd-7990-graphics-card-reviewed

nope, AMD wins single GPU. Turns out using nvidias own FCAT technology actually shows that FRAPs made Radeon cards look worse then they actually were. Don't think they wanted that to happen lol but anyways you see in that 7990 review that the HD7970 is on par or if not superior to the GTX680 in every benchmark.

Most are refreshed silicon yes, but the fact that they are called the GTX700 makes them the new generation. AMD could have very well called the 7970GE the HD8970 and it would technically be a new generation of GPUs.

That you had to type this doesn't torque you in the slightest? You have to hard mod your $1K GPU that you bought 3 months ago to prevent the $650 GPU that's being released tomorrow from overtaking it. That's beyond ridiculous.

Nvidia got us. No question about it (assuming all the prices and specs are true). You won't find me trying to defend otherwise. As I said a page or so back, I hope they enjoyed it because it will be the last time I listen to them tell me something is going to be "one of a kind."

But they never said it was one of a kind, they said it was a normal production product, and that it is the most powerful single GPU product. As with anything at the top of its category, it has a fat price tag....look at the i7 3970X.

Sadly, you are right my friend , Yep, me responsible for double the blame Titan and 690...and I am only mad at myself for this mad.gif

Although 650-700 is still a lot, I kind of feel bad for the people who bought titans. I didn't expect this to come that close, and it was pretty dirty to release two cards so close together both time wise and performance wise for such a drastic price difference. Kind of hurts their biggest fans and early adopters the most.

7970 price:performance is still holding strong, very impressive for such an old SKU.

It has the same "premium" (not premium anymore apparently) air cooler, and is really a slightly watered down Titan. I bought Titan because it had far superior Surround performance and there wasn't going to be anything like it until the 800's, or so nVidia said.

Well, obviously that didn't hold for more than 3 months. Not only is the 780 like a Titan, it is a Titan with half the memory and slightly less rendering power. Vendor created models that have better power delivery and more memory will probably have greater performance than Titan for quite a bit less money.

Oh well, this was the first time I went for the big card (never even owned an x80 before), and it will be the last. I'll let somebody else be the guinea pig next time. I hope nVidia enjoyed the one time and now thanks to them the only time in my lifetime they were able to sock me for all I was worth. Nobody's fault but mine I guess.

This is what happens when you try to stay ahead of the curve. I been telling people about a 3GB GK110 version, no one forced you to buy a Titan, there's always an Early Adopter tax.

Thank you for owning up to your responsibilities kind sir, just don't let it happen again!

We better not see you buying Titan II in the future. tongue.gif

Exactly! Only this time, there's no $299 8970 in sight, and nothing new coming for about 6 months.

This is what happens when there's no competition...

The worse thing AMD did this gen is to announce no new cards throughout 2013, instead of sticking to their yearly release cycle of the last 3 - 4 gens.

How can you justify calling something "mid range" when it is the top performing product at release? Conspiracy theories aside, it is what was on the market, it was the tech available (which even it had low yields due to manufacturing issues), it wasn't 'mid range'!

Oh, and does anyone else feel really happy about the 780 getting the Titan cooler? It looks so awesome!
