Besides, for $650 less than 10% slower than a Titan in a market where AMD is doing nothing isn't really that bad at all... Could have been much worse.

I was off by $49.

I was going with the $399, $699, $999 tiers for the 770/780/Titan.

While I don't follow the video card industry as keenly, as someone like yourself sir, I do follow the financial industry.
The rules of the game have changed with AMD's financial woes.

I dun think AMD will price as fair as before. They gained some market share after 4xxx series. They are still the underdogs tho and won't go crazy as nVidia did with 780.

AMD could price the 9970 at $650 when released if its faster than the 780 but I'm guessing they will want to pressure Nvidia with a lower price. We'll see...

Those are the OEM cards, which are just renamed 7000 series. I believe the actual 8000/9000 series is different. It looks like they may be 512-bit with 4096 steam processors.

Who's to say the pricing will go down with the introduction of the HD8000. If the HD8000 blows away the GTX 780 when it comes out later this year, it'd make sense for them to price it at $650. This is just the way it is, whether you like it or not.

EDIT: My bad, HD 9000 series.

I believe desktop will skip to the HD9XXX series, 8000 series is mobile only. Anyway if AMD volt lock their cards like Nvidia, I will be writing a REALLY STRONGLY WORDED LETTER! lol Fingers crossed.
