So uhhh....how exactly do you sell something that the other person can't test?

If I meet a dude in a coffee shop and want to sell him my 580, how does the dude know it works???
Exactly, i let dudes come and see what they are getting, if they want to run a bench, have at it, just give me my loot,....

Is Kijiji safe? The postal code thing about the site makes me nervous, I don't want anyone knowing which area I live in.

I honestly don't even want to give them my phone number or even email address since they'll have my IP etc...

I've never conned anyone in my life, it's just that I'm paranoid.

What do you think I should do?

I don't understand why people are upset the GTX 780 isn't cheaper, it's a cut down GK110 GPU. I'm surprised it isn't priced higher (because it should be). Compared to the GTX Titan it's a bargain. Either go buy it and reap the benefits or just...

People expect too much for free from a company that is out to make money and has no competition.
Under cutting distributors.

Still with that being said, EVGA have a very weak presence in our market (no GTX Titans for example), yet they don't ship to us direct or let us have their products. Why that is, I do not understand.

Customs and fee's are only 10% tax on items over $1000 or more including postage (or $1000 of total imports for the month), so in regards to the GTX 780 it's not a big deal at all because you won't incur anything (as long as you ship additional cards to different addresses in different names, friends/family). You'll be able to get a EVGA card with a international warranty for at least $100-150 cheaper than locally with the use of a freight forwarder.

GTX Titans are a bit more tricky though because it's hard to get them for under $1000 posted without under insuring your package even if you declare it as a gift.

I've been wanting to find a shop in the US to import cheap EVGA GTX Titans into Australia for a while.
Im not upset the 780 isnt cheaper,i just hate that with the dollar being almost identical to the green back that australians have to pay such prices on pc parts,i doubt very much i will be getting a 780,my 670's play every game i throw at it,and with just a 1080p tv it beats a titan not to mention a 780...

You will listen and claim it isn't part of a series because a name says so. As I indicated in the post you responded to, I guess I just assumed it would not be part of a series by more than just namesake. In other words, I assumed it would be differentiated from the 700 series by more than the name. As I have now stated in this thread three times, that is my own fault. I assumed too much.

And I did think the Titan wouldn't really be touched until Maxwell. I didn't think we'd see another 384-bit card. I didn't think we'd see an entire series released with the "premium" cooler. I thought Titan would be differentiated by more than just name, yes. And you are right, that is my own personal problem, and I take full responsibility for it.

Edit: And since you're so intellectually superior to me, I may as well use this opportunity to try to better myself. What websites should I have read or research should I have done that would have showed me that the 780 to be released in 3 months was going to be exactly a Titan (down to the cooler) with a few less shaders and VRAM? I would love to know so I am not subjected to the same mistakes again in the future. Thanks.

don't be so down on yourself. its all marketing you know. sometimes we all "fall" for it. but in the end we all make conscious decisions and we just live with it. its usually a trial and error process. i guess it just hurts cause it "costs" so much more. i fell for it so many times, bought gtx 670 ftw SLI for 1440p with everyone claiming 2gb was enough, but it was so bad in a few games. i then bought 7950 CF with people saying drivers/CF is amazing now... but i just wanted to go back to nvidia after some nightmares with some games. i bought the titan thinking nothing will be close to it for awhile... well im wrong too.

in the end its okay. we live and we learn. the problem with technology now is that it is moving TOO fast. we buy something, something better comes 3 months later. remember the age old joke that we always have to replace our tech every year? then it became every 6 months? well now its becoming reality that we have to replace something so fast. i mean just look at cell phones, you buy one samsung galaxy, the next one already beats the one i just bought. and im sure they already have other awesome ones lined up too. just the way of the world, i guess for next time, what i learned from my mistakes is just adopt technologies when awesome sales on them happen. (which means you adopt slower)

Really? Only 10% over a $1,000? What the hell, that doesn't make sense.....why is that stopping Amazon and Newegg? Shipping isn't that much either....

If GTX 780's are selling for $850 USD in your area, I could sell them for $750, make a $100 each card (That is significant markup in the computer world), and.....viola.

I wonder if the manufacturers would still warranty the new cards, as people would be first buyer and I the retailer....

Nothing is stopping them, it's stupid and they would make a lot of money but I guess they are given restrictions by the distributor.

They don't warranty them in Australia. Only EVGA does. But as long as you deal with only EVGA cards then you don't have that problem. And honestly why would you want to deal with anyone else.

You could make decent money off of them for little to no work. Even more if you were an actual retailer.

sorry i can only talk about craigslist. yah if you are paranoid, the best thing you can do is just go with someone a good friend who is big and can kick butt. thats what i did bringing my big brother.

i didnt read the thread, but if you are the one selling just make sure you arent conning anyone, make sure you count slowly the money paid to you. and just be nice.

but seriously, if someone responds to an ad, usually you can give benefit of the doubt that they want to purchase goods. but if you really cant handle the pressure, i would say just sell stuff that is not soo expensive and try it out first. i bought things for $10 like used ps2 games etc to start. and sold some $100 jordan collectible shoes. then build your confidence first. trust me the guy buying will be as nervous as the guy selling haha

I once sold a new GTX480 a few years ago on craigslist for $400. The guy buying from me was terrified and nervous. He wanted to meet at a Burger King where there is a lot of witnesses and cameras lol

The guy who showed up was a giant fat 6 feet guy who could easily pound me into dust lol I was so surprised. So far Ive never had any problem with craigslist transactions when it comes to computer components because most people shopping for these items are us nerds biggrin.gif
