It has the same "premium" (not premium anymore apparently) air cooler, and is really a slightly watered down Titan. I bought Titan because it had far superior Surround performance and there wasn't going to be anything like it until the 800's, or so nVidia said.

Well, obviously that didn't hold for more than 3 months. Not only is the 780 like a Titan, it is a Titan with half the memory and slightly less rendering power. Vendor created models that have better power delivery and more memory will probably have greater performance than Titan for quite a bit less money.

Oh well, this was the first time I went for the big card (never even owned an x80 before), and it will be the last. I'll let somebody else be the guinea pig next time. I hope nVidia enjoyed the one time and now thanks to them the only time in my lifetime they were able to sock me for all I was worth. Nobody's fault but mine I guess.

It happens when you jump on bleeding edge stuff I am afraid. Use it as a learning experience. Don't be too hard on yourself though. It is your money and you have a right to splurge and make mistakes with it once and a while.

Hmmm if the card is at 650.00 do you guys think a used Titan for 800-900 is worth it over the 780?

I know right biggrin.gif soo many cheap 680/670s/7970s/7950s to come.

Precisely...I'm tempted to grab one of those tasty CHEAP AS HELL second hand cards that will start appearing in no time. Probably will get a 7970, sell my 7950 and go CF

Also, when Haswell drops, I have aready talked to a guy willing to sell me its 3930K+X79 board dirt cheap. The upgrade itch of hardware crazies is the gain of us normal enthusiast thumb.gif

And, I take my responsibility in this pricing scam; not because Nvidia wronged me, but because I wronged my fellow pc gamers by participating in this "exclusive" Titan hype and by facilitating the new normal for the gpu pricing floor. redface.gif

What would you guy's do. If say you had a gtx 670 FTW 4gb card that does on boast 1185MHz. Without overclocking would you sell it and get a gtx 780 or would you just get another one to sli. Damn cant make up my mind lol

If you are computer inclined, go SLi, if you dont want to deal with anything go 780. Personally i would SLi but im used to resolving multiple card problems.

Exactly people don't get this. It's not the price but the principle that's important.

$650 isn't as stupid as the $1000 titan was, but it's not the $500 it's predecessor cost and it's predecessor and it's predecessor. If paying 30% more 1 year later for the 680s predecessor is okay, then why wouldn't paying 30% more in 2014 for the 880 be okay as well?

yea, yea.... there he goes again, th3illusiveman spouting the same old song, don't like it put me on ignore.

Cool story bro, but never heard of expreview, videocardz, and can´t even confirm the review on the source. thumb.gif

I´ll still wait for official launch prices tomorrow, and techpowerup, anandtech, tomshardware and hardocp reviews before drawing any conclusions.

There´s no explanation whatsoever about the rig and drivers used, and the minimum, maximum and average FPS. Ideally, all cards should be tested with the same system specs and using the latest drivers.

So far, so good, and a very impressive performance (LOL @ 20 FPS on Crysis 3 though rolleyes.gif).
