What possible reasoning could have? A natural disaster is one i can think of. If it's gigs upon gigs it's not possible in America. it's possible most peoples ISPs have data cap smaller than the amount of data they need to back up at very low speeds.

Incremental backups. You backup one time then just incrementally back up over time. I use cloud services all the time, run netflix, hulu, amazon and have never been yelled at about a data cap.

I know this has been hinted at in the thread already, but I want to be absolutely clear on it...

RAID is NOT a backup. If the data is important, you will want to consider RAID 1, PLUS an suitable external drive to back everything up.

If the computer gets infected with a virus, someone accidentally deletes data files, or the PC gets physically stolen from the office or destroyed due to fire, flood, tornado, whatever - RAID 1 is not going to save you. All it does is mitigate the risk of a single hard disk failure, nothing more.

A small, portable external hard drive, rotated off-site (e.g. in Dad's briefcase, or at home) will help protect you against all of the above scenarios.

Hey all, Im back,
got all my parts I listed on the 1st page today in the mail.
so i set everything up put in the win xp disk (its what he had on hios old pc, and he said he would like to keep it) so once i got to decide to were I want to set up my boot drive it didnt let me choose my ssd drive frown.gif something about having to do a disk partition, idk. so i installed it on my hdd... once installed i checked my ssd and it told me it wasnt formatted and asked me if i want to format it, I said yes and it formatte. then i decited to go online searching why this happedne, and i got a bunch of info of which i didnt understand jack about. What i got from it was pretty much that xp doesnt like to run on ssd drives because of TRIM (idk what that is) but there are ways to make them work. apparently some will work without doing anything (idk ...lol... it was all chinese for me) SOme also said that doing these things to make XP work will make your ssd live less... SO SO CONFUSED!!!! anyways, i felt lost, i still do, but hey i gotta get this thing running was my thought. So i rebooted the pc and decited to see if now that I formatted my ssd it will be able to install my OS. to my surprise it did, its just about done... ok now it just asked me what OS i want to boot, i have to XP... hmm i went for the 1st one my ssd.... i think... yup, much faster loading time... smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif my question is how do i delete my OS on my hdd? do i just open it and delete everything? or should i format it? Im guessing formatting is best option... lol... I`ll go for that... can anyone confirm what i am assuming and give me some insight ...

cheers
