The promise of 15 exclusive titles eight of which being new ips within the first year is very interesting news and shouldn't be cast aside. The majority of games on these consoles will be the same looking as most will be multiplatform. However, when it comes to first party titles even if the Ps4 ones are better looking I'll still stick with the xbox if I find theirs to be more fun. Course I'm not writing off the Ps4, if it turns out their games are better I'll just as happily go over there. It's all about the games.

I'm writing all this without taking the whole always online/used games fiasco into account. There's still too many questions about how exactly both will work and too much time for it to possibly change. So I'm not going to automatically hate one or the other until all the details are on the table.

Don't you come in here and be logical! This is not the purpose of this discussion. Lol.

P.S. Nice pc case.

Just another Uncharted is my guess. Tomb Raider is better anyways.

Actually i liked Tomb Raider better too lol! PC version of course.

Brings me back to the crappy mad catz n64 controller I used to have, I used to have 3 nintendo n64 controllers and 1 mad catz, and me and my friends one fight for the oem controllers when playing goldeneye, because the mad catz controller was SUPER GARBAGE! LOL

Bwahahha you're so right about 3rd party controllers. No one in their right mind wants to use them.

The n64 controllers did have one fatal flaw: the joystick slack. After awhile, they would become loose and loose until they wouldn't even sit straight lol. The stock gray was the most prone it seemed, though that could be because everyone had to buy the colored ones as replacements.

I think third parties are really stepping up their game though. The Razer 360 controller was very decent, and we have that Mad Catz cotroller with swappable sticks/D-pad. Expensive, but if you play a lot it would be worth it.

In the end, many people have just grown up with one style and there's little that can be done to change a lifelong habit. You like what you feel when you put that thing in your hands and that's fine.
Me? My thumbs bump into each other using Sony Dual analog, I occasionally find myself wondering why my character is wandering off at an angle when I'm pressing my thumb straight forward (which is a 45 degree angle when using the Sony controller). If I hold the controller with the handles contacting the center of my palms I literally cannot move the sticks "down", the stick center position is the end of my thumb's range of motion. You have to hold it with the handles pressed on the top pads of your hand in order to rotate your wrists away from the controller enough to allow your thumbs to articulate the sticks.
Sorry, but that's not what I grew up with.

Microsoft, as usual, misses mark.

The new XBOX one will force you to tie games that you own to your gamer profile. Translation: You can no longer purchase used games and simply put the disc into your XBOX and have them just work. You will have to purchase the content or unlock it some how, allowing the XBOX to phone home
through the internet (hence miscrosoft's confusing statement that you dont always have to be connected, but you must have an internet connection for the XBOX one to work).

So no used games. MS figures that companies like EA and Ubisoft have started requiring an "Online Pass" to play online content, why could they not do the same across their entire platform?? (Though to EA's credit they have dropped the policy going forward.) This online pass was no more than a cash grab from these companies, attempting to recoup so called lost revenue when someone bought the game used.

MS reasons that we are all slaves. That there is no possible way that we can figure this out; that mom and dad will buy johnny a used game at Gamestop, then when they get home, plop another X$ down to unlock the game for play on his XBOX. Because that is what parents do.
What they don't understand is that while this may work initially, word will travel fast that the PS4 has no such draconian requirements. There will be a lot of buyer's remorse.

"So let me get this straight. You don't have to pay 60 bucks a year to play online AND you can play used games without unlocking it for money first?? Wow I suddenly feel like I am getting shafted"

What is getting lost in the shuffle here is this. While Sony will soak up the disgruntled former XBOX players as MS alienates its user base, they are also quietly embracing Indie games and indie game development on the PS4 and Vita systems. Games which have a small install footprint, have a drastically lower cost to the consumer, and that sell really well when the word gets out that its a good game. Sound familiar? These characteristics are the same as the most popular form of gaming in the world today: the mobile phone. Angry Birds anyone? So while Microsoft looks to screw the consumer to make sure that they get their share perceived lost revenue to used game sales, Sony embraces Apple's take on gaming, recognizing that there is more than one way to combat used games sales: cheaper, smaller games. After all, the reason why used games are so popular is because of the initial pricing point of a new game. Indie games are smaller in price and scope, presenting great value to Sony and the consumer alike. Its a lot easier for a child to ask for a 5 dollar game than it is to ask for a 60 dollar game.

Bravo Sony.. well played

I could definitely see that being the case with all the talk they had about the triple OSes and virtual machines. We may have a big difference in texture quality between the two consoles if the PS4 has 3GB more RAM to play with.

More RAM is more RAM. Sure, the CPU needs RAM, which leaves even less left over for the GPU on the Xbox One.

I'm not entirely sure how all of this translates. I mean, the PS4 spec-wise is looking much more robust than the Xbox, but Microsoft isn't stupid. They wouldn't handicap their machine knowing that they're going to competing with a leader in video gaming consoles now. Not sure what to think here, it seems to be a very competitive field, but Xbox has less resources... The only thing I can think is a much better line-up of video games for the Xbox, and that, in my eyes, is not a realistic thought to have. Americans will LOVE the Xbox, for sure, but around the world it would be a completely different scenery.

It is actually known that Killzone Shadowfall used 3GB for the gpu, 1.5GB for the CPU and 128MB shared in thier demo. They have lots of memory left in there and this just shows how much more VRAM we'll need in the future to cram the last bit out of our PC graphics cards.
Link here if ud like to read smile.gif

http://www.guerrilla-games.com/presentations/Valient_Killzone_Shadow_Fall_Demo_Postmortem.pdf

Side note: Pretty interesting that they release information on how to code for the PS4 (for example, to use "jobs" to spread out the workload), sounds even better for the indie devs thumb.gif
