[Anand] The Xbox One: Hardware Analysis & Comparison to PlayStation 4 - Page 17

I have a question, since the consoles have 8 cores, does that mean owners of 2500ks and other processors that are not 6 to 8 cores are seriously losing out on added performance for multiplatform games?

That's funny because mines a 360 controller, and is much better than the original Xbox 360 controller and a decent PC controller.

That's the MS Marketing guy saying that...The PS3 has shipped more consoles total but the 360 has sold more of them, if the PS3 is shipping more than more people are buying it now otherwise retailers wouldn't be taking the extra consoles from Sony which makes sense, this generation has lasted so long I know a lot of people who are now buying the console they didn't get at the start of this generation so they can play the other exclusives, etc.

It's a war on sematics, but either way I have a feeling the PS3 will win overall, RRoD was a big thing for MS (33% failure rate in an industry where 10% is considered pretty high? Damn, that's just a faulty product) and Sony really got their stuff together around 2010 or so.

RRoD or not, we're talking about units. Which the Xbox 360 has sold more, people wouldn't have re-bought the console unless they really enjoyed it.

Xbox 360 72.24 mil vs PS3's 72.20

Or could it be because they had already invested hundreds of dollars in controllers and games? If Sony had made an offer to "buy out" customers who' Xboxes had failed, they could have opened up a decent margin, not to mention make Microsoft look really bad.

You guys didn't understand my point.. Both MS and Sony said that the xbox 360 and PS3 were not going to lag because they had sufficient hardware but they never said anything about the software till we got a glimpse of GTA and how laggy the game-play was. Same thing happened to gears of war, once you start blowing everything up it taxes the hardware and the FPS drops to the low 20's or even worse.

Same thing is going to happen with the FAILBOX, wait n see biggrin.gif

Since I was actually one of the fans who did buy another Xbox 360, I can say it wasn't because I spent money on games and one extra controller. I could have easily sold that and bought something else.

If you decide to keep your quad core for 4-6 years, then yeah probably (it would probably be a bit like dual core is now). By then almost every high-end gaming CPU should be octocore.

For me, this only means PS4 exclusives will be amazing.

Multiplatform games would still look the same. I can see Microsoft paying companies to make PS4 games just as good as Xbox One games and not better.

Just keep mind that quad core jaguar @1.6Ghz is not as fast 17w i3 3217U, so, octa core jaguar is not as fast as two i3 3217U

i5 2500 should easily beat two i3 3217U

In other words, even if those consoles have octa core, it has much less performance than quad core desktop CPU. People should not worry about how much cores they have, what really matters is how powerful is your CPU
