[Anand] The Xbox One: Hardware Analysis & Comparison to PlayStation 4 - Page 5

I'm gonna throw my prediction in this and say $450 XO and $500 for PS3, the XO might be able to get to $400 but I'm not sure MS is too keen on taking big loses on a per console. I don't see Sony selling the PS4 a penny under $499.99 so I will say that's pretty much set in stone unless we somehow hear MS is gonna launch @$400 then maybe Sony will take the hit and drop down to $450. But yeah hardware won't matter much but the ease of development on PS4 seems like what will win out.

Btw so is this unofficially a two horse race now? I sorta feel like when your new "fanbase" (casuals) doesn't realize you released your next console, and thinks it's another attachment/add-on, that might be a bad thing....

I don't see game developers targetting 4k output with the gpu in the PS4 anyway so it shouldn't matter, and in the architecture panel after the reveal, the engineers said that the gpu in the xbone does '768 operations per clock cycle', which implies 768 stream processors.

Irony is that now instead of people complaining only about how console ports make games low quality, all the blame will fall on Xbox One. May as well call them Xbox Ports, since I doubt developers are going to make games on the PS4 better graphic wise than Xbox One even if it can handle them.

If that's true and the PS4s features are comparable to the Xbox's then I'll be going with the PS4. Seems a lot stronger performance wise, has no Xbox Live, better controller and Metal Gear Solid will be built for it. That's enough for me to make a decision.

Xbox has great OS features, Kinect and TV integration etc but most of that stuff will be useless in Australia if they run TV and those services off of your internet connection. If it's run through the HDMI in then that's a bit different but how would this actually work? It would be more likely it would all be integrated into the Xbox with additional subscriptions yes? In which case it's useless and won't work because Australian internet sucks, even our high speed optical fibre. Not to mention you'd need an unlimited download limit.

Good point.

Will still be a huge improvement over the current situation though.

I just wish the LIVE platform was on each game for Windows. I have a LOT of gamerscore on Xbox and I dont see myself bothered to play any of these new consoles especially with all this new + fast computer hardware coming out. I want the achievements in my PC games to work towards my gamerscore. All of them, not just Halo 2 + Fable. What PC gaming needs to be complete is a universal progression system.

Download Steam.

It's been around about 10 years now

If this is true then PS4 is at a lead and the only choice for me, whereas the design of the console also matters for me so I am eagerly waiting for PS4 and xbox one hands on videos to see them clearly and their working priciples...

yeah I know about that, been using steam before achievements was even released. but say I play lots of WoW and Sc2, I get Windows LIVE achievements, then I can hop on Halo 5 on my Xbox One and get achievements there, so if someone searches my achievements on SC2 they can see my Halo 5 cheevos vice versa etc etc.
