wow! I was bottlenecking hardcore

So for those that have seen my threads.

I recently upgraded my overclocked E6600 (3.2ghz) lga775 system to an FX-6350 AM3+ rig. Along with the 6350, I upgraded from DDR2-800 to DDR3-1833. I kept my 5850directcu. I finally got it all put in yesterday and did some testing. Let me just say I was SHOCKED at the performance boost I had!

I knew my e6600 was holding me back, but I couldnt imagine by how much. In world of tanks, if I maxed out the game, I would avereage low 20's/high teens. Now with it maxed, I was averaing 50-60! Battlefield 3 I could only on low settings with maybe 1 or 2 on medium averaging around 18-25. I can now run it all on high with LQ-AA and SSAO and average around 30-40.

My cpu 3d mark score, stock for stock increased 4 fold. E6600 was graded 4039 while the FX recieved 16163. Having the FX in the system even increased the 3D score and matched my old overclocked score for the 5850 on the e6600 rig. .

I am simply blown away. I always chocked it up to my graphics card being old. Holy crap was I wrong. So SO wrong.

Lol, i remember when i upgraded E6600 to Q9550 and i had GT 8600 it was noticeable difference on CS.S stable 100fps.. But It was older CSS not this Orange Box ****...

Lol have you not looked at the benchmarks for today's games? That should have been a clear indication that your dual core is seriously bottlenecking.

Always a nice bump when you jump a couple cpu generations.

looks like your next biggest upgrade will be a SSD

The E6600 is 7 years old rolleyes.gif

Yeah, when compared to modern Intel CPUs, that overclocked E6600 is roughly equivalent to a 1.5GhZ dual core.

I swear this thing was just fine up until two or so years ago where I began to notice problems. I dunno you guys, Im just glad I made the jump.

My poor 5850. Had it for three years and never even saw what its capable of. Well, now its time to find out!

No way man! Im seeing how far I can push it in BF3 and so far I am running textures/shadows on ultra with the rest on high, 2xAA, no post AA, HBAO at 1680x1050. Getting a stead 33-45fps. Its like having a brand new gfx card! I have never seen it ouput graphis this good. frown.gif

Had it all these years and I had no idea I was holding it back.
