[Daily Tech] Apples Tries to Use Decade-Old Patents to Ban Samsung Galaxy S IV - Page 12

And I was also surprised that iPhone still has no auto-update for apps. Yeah, after six years on the market.

I've got one!

I've got an ipad and a macbook for work.

I have a lot of audio files I use daily for said work.

I have them on an FTP

I download what I need on my macbook, and play it. I have to "preview" the file because itunes can't open them, because they were created by my work. So I open the same files day after day via FTP and am stuck to a play or pause button only in the preview player.

The macbook has bootcamp, and I've never booted into OSX. It doesn't support smart cards like windows, so no dice.

Apple locks their crap down like sociopaths who beat their wives and convince them to stay. Any other MP3 player or tablet I could just drop the files into, or download once and be able to access with an audio player, but Apple won't let that happen.

In addition, I can't find a 3rd party audio player on the itunes store.

And I know my company paid 4X the price for the Apple crap than they would have paid for a Nexus 7 tablet and a windows laptop with comparable specs.

I'd expect such bigotry from an American, but from a Brit? Cmon man don't let Americans drag you guys down the path to idiocracy too.

Come on, I expected better of you to not think that Americans are the only bigots. I have some relatives in China that are quite nationalists, and anti-Japanese.

The double standard here is far too insane. People hating on Apple because they are Apple is a niche people fill - just like the silly Apple fanboys who purchase everything from them. Basically, you guys blindly hating on Apple are just as bad as the people who blindly support Apple.

The amount of idiocy in this thread is too damn high.
You realize it's called a terror-suit right? They sue for some ridiculous amount of money so that the wrong will be righted. I seriously doubt samsung collected any money and never intended too. They just wanted LG to stop false advertising. Lots of companies do it and never collect any money. It's a completely different story than what is going on. Samsung and apple are both to blame, but bringing some stupid fridge lawsuit into this adds nothing of relevance and is just a sorry excuse to further your opinion along.

But going back to the marketshare aspect... Two years ago I saw the iPhone 4 as a luxury, premium item. It sure was cool as heck (design wise), and it worked well.

But what has happened since? You used to see lots of people with iPhones, nowadays I see tons of Xperia, tons of Galaxy, and quite a lot of HTCs. Not so many iPhones.

Why? Because Apple, the supposed 'almighty innovator', is stuck on a platform that got outclassed two years ago. And is more expensive. And more fragile mechanically wise (I don't know anyone with an iPhone that doesn't have either a cracked screen, a cracked back, or a chipped corner).

Android has improved SO MUCH in responsiveness, software, user friendliness and customization, that Apple no longer has an edge. And unless they pull another trick, this will be the dooming of their iPhones.

2. Again, irrelevant, as patents for non-existant things are not granted, and again, "indirectly warning" companies of what? The patent office would investigate accusations of theft, and obviously, if the company came up with the idea on their own, because your mystery company that holds all of the patents didn't release a product, they would come out in favor of the copier. If your mystery company did release a product, then it would be a standard already and the patent would have been revoked. If the company still holds the patent AND released a product, then the other company would be fined, and should be, for releasing a stupid product.

3. You can't patent technologies that are already standards. If you don't believe me go try and patent the wheel. And its Abrams, not Abram. And again, I clearly stated there would be no lawsuits allowed, it would be an investigation and fine.

4. You can't patent something that doesn't exist, and a purely optical computer can't exist. And ONCE AGAIN, no lawsuits.
Some guy did patent the wheel just to show that patent system has fatal flaws.

You must have some clumsy friends. I've dropped my iPhone several times and still no cracks, chips, or imperfections that you wouldn't see on a plastic phone as well ( as I have similar imperfections on my Galaxy S2 and ZTE Warp ).
