OK, here's what I have so far:

i7-3770k - $85 (Intel Deal for Retail Associates)
Corsair H100i - $70 from Corsair Accom for Retail Associates
NZXT Phantom 001WHT - $99

Here's what I'm looking at adding in:

MSI Motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130686 - $179.99

This is where I need help. I currently have an XFX 5870. It's old, and does not do what I need. I do video and music production and editing. Plenty of gaming too.

EVGA 2GB GTX660:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130833 - Was thinking 2 of these, in SLI. Yay or nay?

Corsair AX860:
http://www.corsair.com/en/power-supply-units/ax-series-power-supply-units/ax860-atx-power-supply-860-watt-80-plus-platinum-certified-fully-modular-psu.html

I get this for $119.99 with discount.

Corsair Vengeance 16GB Dual/Quad Channel:
http://www.corsair.com/en/memory-by-product-family/vengeance/vengeance-16gb-dual-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cmz16gx3m4a2400c10.html

I get this for $140.00

And for an SSD:
http://www.corsair.com/en/ssd/neutron-series-ssd/neutron-series-128gb-sata-3-6gbs-ssd.html
I get this for $100.

I already have 2 3TB Seagate Barracudas in a RAID 0, and 2 1 TB WD Black Caviars in RAID 0 as well.

What do you all think?

looks pretty good

one thing maybe someone can tell you is whether that psu is definitely big enough for your setup. personaly I would want 1000 if doing heavy OCs and OC SLI, but then again its a platinum u have there so u need less headroom. I always think buying more power than you need is a safe bet you wont run out of power.

I can get the AX1200i for $209, or the HX1050 for $149.99. It's gotta be modular, and from Corsair. They're the only ones that never break on me, and I own a TX750 right now and the non-modularity is killing me. Is the extra wattage even necessary?

Also, what's the difference between the AX860i and AX860?

Even a 650W PSU will run two GTX 660s and a 3770K.  A 750W is more than enough.  Anything more than that is just overkill and a waste of money.

I'd also consider getting a GTX 670 instead of running SLI 660s.  Excellent performance and you don't have to worry about any potential SLI issues.

What you have is good, but I have a couple options you might be interested in.

I would recommend you slightly downgrade your mobo to this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130687 . As far as I can tell, the main differences are a clear CMOS button on the back of the mobo, a third PCI 3.0 slot for triple sli/crossfire (which by the way I do NOT recommend you do), and 2 extra sata 3 ports that are controlled by asmedia (which I do not recommend you use).

What this does for you is not only saves you money on features that I really don't think you need, but it also gives you 8GB of memory for free. Since 8 GB is all you need, this will DEFINITIVELY save you some money.

Then, bump your SSD up to a 256 GB version.

If you can get that PSU for that price PLEASE include the sleeved cable set. Maybe white to match your case?

Maybe get the NZXT Hue while you are at it. thumb.gif

Lastly, I would wait on the GPU. Nvidia will have the GTX 770 out pretty soon. Depending on the reviews, you might want a single GTX 770 with a nice back plate thumb.gif

I think you will be much happier with this type of a rig. smile.gif

Yesss! Forgot about the Hue, haha! And of course I would get the matching sleeves.

Is 8GB all I really need? I was told I would need 12+ for what I'm going for.

see forceman showed up and he sure sounds like he knows what hes talkin about, so id take his word on it, psu is plenty. re 670 vs sli 660 compare price to benches, both of these setups will have very solid bench #s available via google. I like toms often to see comparison between similar products. you can just do the math which is more powerful and if its worth the extra money. if one is cheaper and more powerful, well then you have your answer.

I don't think theres all that many issues with sli if you choose an sli capable mobo and cards, both from reputable manufacturers. at least I haven't experienced any through a few variations of sli setups.

I would recommend getting the, Intel Tuning plan when you get the 3370K, it is an extended warranty that allows you to Overclock your CPU without voiding the warranty, it is a life saver if you overclock to high and ruin the CPU.

By the way, great build log, it is a beast of a rig smile.gif I can't wait to see pics of it

Best regards

Alright, decided on getting a single 780, since I'd be paying just about that for 2 660's. All the other parts are in the mail, just need a 780 now smile.gif

Definitely going to get that Tuning plan as well. $25 to replace a burnt out CPU sounds good to me!
