Xbox One & PS4 a generation ahead of high-end PCs, says EA exec - Page 2

That's why they're going all out with the gimicky share and all-in-one thing since they know they can't compete against the PC in hardware alone.

Wouldn't call the share function on a PS4 gimmicky, it sounds bloody cool; to do the same on a PC I would need dedicated, expensive hardware.

And your comparison is ridiculous; do you have that setup? I don't.

But yes, I agree, this EA exec is a boob for saying that these consoles are a generation ahead of a 3770K and a 680 etc....

I'll still be getting a Xbox one when it's released, didn't know a system with a 7790? Was better then a system with a 7870 or above.
But still this thread, needs to be closed. It'll just go on for a 100 pages about how EA is the worst company blah blah burn them to the ground.

A 7850 boost GPU (for PS4), extreme bandwidth (GDDR5 for PS4, cache system for Xbox One) and a octo-core CPU?

That's nothing to sneeze at. Especially once you start using optimizations that have less software overhead and down to the metal.

But to say it's ahead of high end PCs? That's quite bold, and misinformed. Then again, when was EA not ignorant?

You have to realize, a 3930k, a 1,000 PSU, and the term's SLI and CFX do not ring any bells in the general public.  They don't know what that is.   A high end PC for the general consumer is just whatever computer at Best Buy looks like it's expensive, Dell XPS and HP Elites.  Those typically come with a decent processor but then are tied with a Nvidia 650 or a AMD 7770.  In this sense, with the amount of support the consoles get, it's debatable that they could outperform your average "high" end pc.

But of course, 85% of the computers on OCN are quite beyond the capabilities of the consoles (spec wise) Some of you guys with tri-fire 7970's and Titans are probably already as strong as the next NEXT gen (PS5/Xbox 2)...it's just that every ounce of juice of your monster machines won't be squeezed out quite like a consoles.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if these consoles with optimization can deliver an experience on par with my sig rig, and even better later in the console life. But to say that they are a generation ahead of current high end rigs is ridiculous.

Cost for cost a next gen console is definitely going to be better than what you can build. They've always been efficiently priced, but to flat out say it's ahead of high end pc is a really bold statement, considering high end pcs are constantly changing every year while consoles remain the same throughout its life cycle.

^This ! They obviously are comparing these consoles with high end OEM system.
