Yeah, I have to stay away from places like that on this here Interblag, or I'll go Banner and end up with a burst vessel and they'll be upping my medication again, so I just stay away............

all this buzz around the xbox and it is starting to get to me. like the conversation is everywhere around me. i love that grab and pan feature. it would fit right into my setup for multitasking. only wish we could get something like that for pc. anywho, im hoping i will be on par with the graphics or slightly better with my current rig. i really dont know what the next gen consoles will have for gpu and if my 670's need upgrading or not. will have to see i guess.

also note: im taking what that EA exec said with alot of salt.

Even if there is the slightest chance that they may be ahead of PCs it won't make EAs games any better.

Case in point thumb.gif If you're a true gaming enthusiast, you game PC.

I think what they might mean is these "next-gen" (lel) consoles are a generation ahead of most existing retail PCs; because they're certainly barely even on par with existing mid-range gaming PCs. To just match console-tier visuals at 1080p (meaning set your textures to med-low because we all know how them console textures look wink.gif) we only need a 660Ti, maybe a 670 if you want the higher framerate epeen.
Jeez, whether their GPUs can actually match a 7850 (apparently according to the said PS4 specs) which is just as fast a 6950. Old but can it really do that? I doubt. I doubt.
They'll have to find some way to squeeze all that power into 40-50W TDP i guess. 7850 is probably the "apparent" power then. Doesn't make sense when the 7850 has a 150W TDP and is on the same manufacturing process
Also, i'm pretty certain graphics aren't going to be nearly as good as what i do on my 7850 @ 60FPS
I still cringe at the terrible graphics of games made for even X360 Slim ... And that was at 30FPS on top of that. Not exactly smooth
Plus i have suspicion how good a 1.6GHz 8-core jaguar will be. Big suspicion. Sure SR is awesome but still, 1.6GHz is really low in my books. Better off being a netbook

That is exactly why consoles can do so much with so little. They can also better alot memory thanks to this so even 2-4gb of ram is an extraordinary amount of breathing room for developers over the 360

How well does a console overclock? I would LOVE to know. C'mon dudes, this is OCN.
Also sannakji ... what happened to your APU support?

Of course, they don't have to make a steel case or make a large motherboard nor do they use super-overkill power supplies. Also they don't use things we call "SSD". Only a mere 500GB hdd which costs next to nothing nowadays? It's a 2.5" to top that up, how is it compared to our speed demons?
Dayum, my X360 has a 500GB HDD in it (Yes, hacked!)

You haven't tried the latest updates of Fedora then. It's a speed demon

8GB DDR3 £35

Well £410, but I'm sure it can compete smile.gif

that CPU is 4 core / 4 thread.
ps4 has 4 core / 8 hardware threads

gtx 650ti boost can compute at a rate of 1500 GFLOPS
ps4 GPU can computes 1840 GFLOPS

you have 2 GB DDR5 @ 144 GB/s + 8 GB DDR3 @ 25 GB/s of max memory bandwidth
ps4 has 8 GB Unified DDR5 @ 176 GB/s

you buy ordinary dvd drive
ps4 has blueray drive supports 3x faster than ps3's blue ray drive

This is not enough, your 410 pound pc's will run at least ~25% slower because of various types of overheads found in Windows OS.
But in case of PS4 the overhead is negligible.

I glanced at the title of this thread while getting ready to go out today and I laughed the entire time after. Not a chuckle either, a full on guffaw with tears of mirth. And EA wonders why they have such a terrible reputation within the community. Why is it that all the console people are so hopelessly out of touch all the time?

And I have an i7 clocking 3 times as fast, twice as much ram, a Titan measured in the 4.5 teraflop realm of life. Of course it costs a hell of a lot more than his pc.

I find the choice to use a shared DDR5 pool for the PS3 rather than dedicated vram/ram an interesting one. Whether it is good or bad, who knows, but you can't deny the speed of the stuff.
