Lol! Great comment. Smart TVs already offer a lot of the Xbox does.

I may be a PC gamer, but that doesn't mean I'm not excited to see what they can pull off. Also means better games for us finally smile.gif

Yes I'm looking forward to what they can do too but in all reality we already know it will most likely be the same graphics us PC gamers have had for a few years now. And we already know that they are going to be limited to 1080p (for games) so yea.........

I feel like when the next gen gpu's come out (Maxwell), then we PC gamers are going to go back to complaining about consoles holding back PC.

That's nothing to sneeze at. Especially once you start using optimizations that have less software overhead and down to the metal.

But to say it's ahead of high end PCs? That's quite bold, and misinformed. Then again, when was EA not ignorant?

all that and every single game shown for either console (as real gameplay) is on par with Crysis 2 or worse. mostly much worse. PS3 launched with a mid range equivalent one generation old GPU(HD9K/GTX7XX is upon us, 7850 is one gen old) and a super CPU above and beyond what PC's had at the time. it translated into inferior products, even the direct to metal games only surpassed xbox titles, and very few PC version(no pc exclusives really).

they'll still be making console games in resolutions that i played UT99 in when i was a little kid...and use horrible textures.

It's EA /thread indeed but

You people are very blind if you think he is wrong, take one look at what has been produced from 10 year old tech on consoles.

10 year old tech

10!

The tech in the new consoles are an enormous leap.

He isn't right about this but he isn't wrong, he's partially right.

The developers have a 1 on 1 with the console hardware, they know what is "ultra with AA @ 1080p" is, they can push the games as much as they want.

To say that "Judging from the specs of both Xbox One and PS4, they're probably comparable to a mid range PC at best.", is laughable, he's right in saying that, the new consoles would be putting out the same level of performance as a pc like mine dude, this is due to the fact of them being able to bypass an Operating system and all the rest of the mumbo jumbo we deal with when running a game on the pc.

Well that and TV tuner cards...Apple TV too...heh, Apple is probably warming up a lawsuit as we type. I am sure they have some patent about having a device that can display a television signal to a TV.

I am kind of surprised that they made a Media add-on for Windows 8 now though...and gave it out for free no less. That probably is competing with Xbox one in the media machine and HTPC area.

haha holy crap. in winey voice "psh your stupid console won't beat my sandy extreme and 2 titans ehhhh"

I'm not defending ea, they are jerks. but come on do you really think they were saying that directly to OCN?

"high end gaming pc" is a completely different term to us. go down to best buy and see their high end gaming pc's. yea I think they new consoles will do pretty good. not for long though, in the next year or two the "consumer" high end pc will be leaving them in the dust. this is something we all know.

But if you're the type of gamer who lives and breathes on the bleeding edge of polygon-pumping power—one who will accept no less than the highest of details settings and the smoothest of frame rates—it appears as though PC gaming will remain the undisputed heavyweight champion for the foreseeable future. Just remember that great performance comes with a hefty price.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/2029138/playstation-4-vs-pc-graphics-can-sony-even-compete-.html

Case in point thumb.gif If you're a true gaming enthusiast, you game PC.

I think what they might mean is these "next-gen" (lel) consoles are a generation ahead of most existing retail PCs; because they're certainly barely even on par with existing mid-range gaming PCs. To just match console-tier visuals at 1080p (meaning set your textures to med-low because we all know how them console textures look wink.gif) we only need a 660Ti, maybe a 670 if you want the higher framerate epeen.

Well that isn't why they are wrong. Take the newest most expensive PC you can find with the latest hardware with Quad SLI titans or what ever you want to put in there. Will that PC make good use of HSA? Can it share system and VRAM memory efficiently? That is what this is about. In that respect the new consoles are using features that AMD wasn't planning to release to PC till some time in 2014 at the earliest. Making them a generation ahead. This isn't about performance...though I think it is easily understandable how any one could start that train of thought. They chose their words poorly...or wisely if think about what the masses will think.

Heh, though the kicker is that when these features are able to be had on a PC we probably won't be considering them top of the line PCs. Perhaps if HSA really takes off.
