Help a Brother out!! - Page 2

Hey man. I would definetly get a good air cooler like the Noctua NH-D14 for your CPU. You will find that once you overclock it to 4.5ghz or above, you will get smoother gameplay and your GPU's will seem to run smoother. As for the GPU, I can't really say much because I swear by ATI. Good luck!

The GTX670 is a solid choice

Though you could go 7950 and get better performance after some OC work. 7950 scales more with a OC then a 670 does. When overclocking both a 7950 is closer to a gtx680.
Frame times have already been fixed with single cards and tend to be better then nvidia ATM, making for some smoother game play. Also the 7950 gains more from a OC
I really think the AMD side might surprise you on how good their cards are. Plus you get more Memory and a overall more future proof card, next gen consoles are using GCN tech so expect games to be more tailored to that architecture.

Hey there. Having owned one the 670ftw is a solid card. I wanna add that if your ambient room temp is anywhere near 90F you will need to spin the fan at max on the ftw to keep it under the 70c throttle point. I was running 1230mhz and when I moved, my game room didnt have ac in the summer and boy did temps suffer. The cooler works very well and even at 70c its not near the damage range, it would just irritate me seeing the mhz drop a bit so I would max the fan speed to keep it around 68c. At that speed card gets a bit noisy but is bearable. When ambient is in under 80f it usually does t hit max speed on my custom profile. The asus card is silent compared to the ftw, I ran one a while but my luck it didnt oc past 1090mhz lol

Well regardless I sold it in dec and am looking to get a 7xx card, I love evga customer support but wish they put heatpipes on their cards or something.

Im new to this whole graphics card business and AMD seem less main stream and user friendly . Maybe a i will give them a try in the future .. i will definitely try and get a fan

AMD graphics cards are by no means not mainstream or less user friendly than nVidia cards. They all make their share of driver mistakes and the like. As was said prior, an affordable fan solution is the Hyper 212 Evo.
