That said, I'm going water so that's why I picked up the regular one.

I find it funny that EVGA went on this huge marketing campaign promoting their blower type coolers over dual fan type coolers. If you remember, they had videos explaining how by exhausting the air out of the back of the case, your case would be cooler and thus the card runs cooler etc.

Then they do this 180 and release all of their high end 780's with dual fan coolers after GPU boost 2.0 overclocks based on thermals. Sapphire, MSI and all the other major brands have had amazing dual fan coolers for a long time. Some of which I'd argue are better than the ACX. I don't get why EVGA treats it almost as if its a new revolution - teaser trailer and all.

Wow.... http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/EVGA/GTX_780_SC_ACX_Cooler/29.html the OC'd ACX is quieter than the oc'd titan AND oc to oc matches it within 0.8fps (out of ~129fps). Crazy. I'm refusing my package of a reference 780 and going for one of these things, after seeing that.... the cooler is apparently crazily good and keeps it at high boost levels consistently instead of the downclocking the normal 780 and Titan end up having due to temps. Stock-to-stock it outperforms the titan handily. No gaming for me this weekend on a 780 but it'll be well worth it once it comes thumb.gif.

To avoid throttling that would make the card loud with a maxed fan, reference cooler is not as efficient as the Windforce 3X cooler. Also a single Watercooled Titan costs around $1300 but also two GTX 780s which are about 90% faster.

Again, I'd argue a few of Gigabyte's windforce, Twin Frozer and Sapphire's Vapor-X coolers are better, bigger, cooler. rolleyes.gif

You're making it sound like the holy grail of gpu cooling. I'm merely stating that there's better.

I agree, but Nvidia basically killed the halo product 3 months later. Something I thought would never happen.
