You can look at it that way but if you had the money and wanted the performance are you going to limit yourself for the greater good of the consumer? Most wouldn't, hell i wouldn't. If i had 1950$ to drop on three 780s they'd be here. 2010rig summed it up perfectly no competition is the reason we're seeing this. It's the reason the CPU market is the way it is and we haven't seen mainstream hexa-cores, no competition..

Spot on.

Same might happen with 780 D:

You forgot to mention 0 driver support for titan(3months already in stock) and 780 with a 1st driver(release one) focusing on a 660ti. Meaning if this is a trend, we wont see gk 110 chip boosts in games, only gk 104.

Took the words out of my mouth. I get the feeling that he is rather confused about how drivers work, and thinks they're done on a card by card basis.

Kepler "The Architecture" drivers, are good for all Kepler cards. Hope that helps him. smile.gif

It's possible, but not likely, only thing that's going to drive prices down is competition.

NVIDIA has been wanting to hit this $650 price point since the 280. They haven't been able to, because AMD hasn't allowed them to, until now. wink.gif

We won't be seeing a miraculous 4870 type card for a few months.

IKR, this current price paradigm, quite frankly, sucks!

NVIDIA is really milking it too. Did you know the 780 was supposed to come out in February, instead of Titan?

Literally in the last minute, they launched Titan instead. NVIDIA can't and wouldn't be able to sell a Titan for $1000, with the 780 already on the market. wink.gif

From here on out, I would like to see who buys a Titan over a 780, even a pair of 780's. The choice is:

10% more performance for an extra $350.

Or

50% more performance for an extra $300.

When you're spending $1000 on a Single graphics card, $300 more is not far fetched. It also sucks that we even have a Single GPU option for $1000 in the first place! wink.gif

@2010Rig, I am not an expert at how the drivers work but I know for sure that when 580 was receiving driver updates with boosts in games, the scenario being: 580-10% in X game, this translates to 570 receiving 5-6% or even less. Tested by me. What I am saying is 780 should receive the most out of drivers and be on the 1st place rather then 2nd.

.....beautiful. these are the choices you have people. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
and for those who'd be quick to point to vram, you'd run out of gpu power for a given gaming setting/setup, even with two titans, long before you'd run out of 3GB vram.

After everything I just said, I'm most likely getting one, LOL. I want to see more non-reference options first wink.gif

I'm also considering just getting a 580 since I'm building a 2nd rig at the moment, for my primary uses the 580 is as good as a 780, and I hardly play games anymore.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-780-performance-review,3516-26.html

I would love to see some benches with Adobe Premiere, the 780 does have almost 100 GB/s more memory bandwidth, and a ton more cores which should give me a very NICE boost.

Congrats on your 780!
