I missed the Typo -- Apologies, I've corrected my previous post to show that.

I can guarantee that the support will continue for a good few years unless something catastrophic happens, like Nvidia going bust. You won't see any massive performance gains made like Fermi or with GCN because the arch is already mature, Nvidia know how to write drivers for it and most of the gains have already been made.

I know it will be supported for years.

I need about 25% performance increase with drivers, gradually.

Please stop. VI (volcanic islands) will be out this year, those were most likely 9xxx parts as desktop sea islands was canned. Since January, OEM 89xx (stickered 79xxs) have been out and about.

It may be called HD supermofo for all I know, but it is not the planned sea islands from a year ago. VI was planned for 2014 but has now moved up.

Wait for a new arch from either manufacturer then, that's where driver gains are made

nah, 680 benefitted from drivers quiet a bit.

I know this very, trust me, very well.

There were 2 games in which the gain was the most noted -- Bioshock Infinite and BF3...1920+.

My point is that, when Nvidia changed marketing strategies and pushed this card out...They've changed the entire market surrounding the Titan.

It went from a professionally aimed/marketed card to a consumer gaming "god", overnight.

With the change, Nvidia actually has to support/enhance this card and they are NOT good at writing drivers...

This card will be enhanced for many years to come because it has to be and every Titan performance boost WILL hit the 780...

Will we see a 30% gain out of both cards? Arguable...Very arguable but, completely possible.

If Nvidia had just marketed this card to developers, you'd have a leg to stand on but, now that it's in the consumer market...The backlash would be absolutely unreal if the Titan was unsupported/enhanced in the gaming market...I'm talking class action lawsuits type backlash...Legal backlash because Nvidia made promises they better keep.

Really? I thought their drivers a stable enough to play games very well.

Do you own BF3 and BI?

It went from a professionally aimed/marketed card to a consumer gaming "god", overnight.-What are you trying to say is Nvidia has to opt the drivers for Titan or all gk 110 (gaming purpose) cause iit was never meant to be a gaming card and requires some time to properly make drivers for them?

8970 non-OEM is not confirmed just yet, its probably just a rumour.

Stop.

All rumors and reports and AMD's road map point to HD8970 Q3 2013.

Desktop manufactures are getting HD7000 series rebadged as HD8000 series.

Builders like us are getting "new" HD8000 series that's still based on GCN.

We are not getting a new architecture till Qx of 2014.

Yes.

Take a Quadro and game on it. -- What's the end result?

Now find someone that actually knows how to write drivers and modify the driver.

The results are that the Quadro, with re-written/custom drivers, actually performs decently...Not well, decently.

Now picture the Titan.

The Titan was NOT a consumer gaming card until "recently" so, the same logic actually follows...Which, most of us actually discovered with the samples.

Nvidia actually has to support the Titan the whole way through...Thus, the 780 is supported because it's only a few modifications further.

This "series" of cards will be enhanced for a long time coming -- period.
