Even though the 7970 beat the 780, the article does not even mention this in their conclusion. But prances around CF issues. Lame tech site.

I'd guess AMD did not have to respond to the 780 generation after all and could take their time with their 8xxx gen.

However, looking at the next review, tells a different story. The 780 is indeed a better card then the 7970GHz but still priced very steep.
they are turning on and off or changing settings in their tests so it confuses a lot and makes those number totally crazy

Seeing the direction Nvidia is heading with recent cards I think ill hold out for the 800's waiting with anticipation for the next 12+months before I upgrade unless AMD expected new release is a top performer.

To all those that are buying 780's I am sure you will be happy with no regrets and wait eagerly for the postman tomorrow. Enjoy the near Titan for 2/3 the cost thumb.gif
but will we be able to hold out that long? tongue.gif

just checked and 780 are going for 650-690eur without games while titan goes for 920eur with games and 6gb vram, well i will be waiting either for 4gb+ version or for amd, but i dont think they will strike stores back before january and i guess they will be priced 650+usd/eur so amd gets their cut of cake ...

also maxwell might become the same old story: 192/256 cripples who will later turn into 384bit refresh for all to wonder in awe ...

Scaling from 2 to 3 cards is the same as 1 to 2 for the most part. Its the 4th card that always let's you down lol.

To expand on this further though, would it be reasonable to expect higher OC'ing capability with just 2 cards in SLI vs 3 in SLI/CFX.

Two 780's running 1100-1150mhz would be quite the killer, especially for only $300 more than a 690/7990.

Most GPGPU applications aimed at consumers are FP32 or single precision.

Welp, no need to be concerned about that then. Thanks for the infos. thumb.gif

Titan has been out for 3 months with no actual improvement in anything. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a 10% improvement across the board. We will see optimizations for sure, just as every driver release brings but nothing substantial for at least a little while.

GTX 680 was receiving constant improvements on a regular basis. What is in tact here is the most of 700 series are gk 104. Which might make Nvidia to prioritize gk 104 chip driver over gk 110. Meaning 78o will be carved at stone.

Or they were just waiting to optimize gk 110 all together, which is unlikely cause the most of consumers on a gk 104 chip...

I can already play crysis 3 on high settings using a GTX 660 so I think a 780 will suite my needs just fine. If I could SLI I would, but like I said I have a SFF build with only one slot for a GPU.

You are really only limited by the worst performing card in 2-3-4 way sli/cfx. You may drop an additional 10-15mhz just because you are running sli, but it is not a definitive.

My 7970s, max oc is 1330/1320/1310 for each individual card but 1300 for all three in cfx. Memory maxes at 1850 but 1800 yields better scores (EEC doesn't kick in)

Why not titan for 1k and save $700.00 to sli later....it will make more sense.....

Well if you're looking into getting any $1K GPU solution these cards make a great case for themselves.

Because these cards are only 8% slower than Titans...

Would've been interesting if Nvidia had allowed SLI between Titan and the 780...
