2) $650 is due to no competition same as HD 7970 was $550.
3) Does it even matter. The best you can do if you want the card but dont like the price is not buy the card and show Nvidia that we are not willing to pay $650 for a GTX780.
I think

HD 6970 ~ $375
HD 7970 ~ $550

Same P/P @ Launch.

Agreed.

It seems like a lot of people are just arguing to argue at this point.

780 is a bit high compared to 7970 and 680 considering it's a new gen., true. But it's too low compared to Titan. I mean 5-10% difference, you won't notice it while gaming. That's 50 fps vs 55 fps. Compared to Titan 780 is a damn good deal...... sadly.

I cant believe that an oced 780 can match an oced titan. Most of the reviews cant really oc a titan(without the anti-throttling bios).I wait for bench from ocn users to judge better.

Gtx780 cost 650 because its a part of the lineup. Still its a bit high

Thing is, having had it for a couple of months doesn't matter now: they're both available. "The best" is subjective.... is "the best" two 780's that trounce a Titan and provide true improvements in gaming for $1300 vs. 1000? Is "the best" two Titans that provide a margin-of-error change for $2000, but look better in a signature? Or is "the best" simply in a vacuum where cost doesn't matter, and thus whatever has even a half a percent difference is "the best", and the real world doesn't exist?

OC to OC is silly for a number of reasons including that cards don't ever OC the same, OC's vary by a user's environment and system, OC's vary to the individual unit even, and if you wanted to compare it anyway, we don't know how the 780 will go with a modded BIOS yet anyway.

As was said by others, oc-to-oc is a silly comparison since every card oc's differently, but even then, as I said... the difference is basically negligible. The score is X5388 vs. X5054, in a synthetic, so 6.6%. That translates into near-margin-of-error difference there, and absolutely nothing in gaming (where the differences are smaller for stock-to-stock comparisons in reviews).

I'm also pretty sure that 100% or 99.9999% of enthusiasts would get the Titan over the 780 if they were given one for free. It's obviously the superior card. A

nd as Eric said a few pages back it's not nice to go around spreading Fud about the 780 matching a Titan when OC'd when you don't have the proof to back it up.

And once again the 3dmark combined score has never been good for GPU comparisons, just look at the name combined. When comparing GPUs on a system where the CPU is the same you'll get a smaller gap in 3dmark score than in gaming performance. GPU score is the one to go by since that's actually what's measuring the GPU perf. I fail to see how low res CPU only parts have anything to do with GPU performance.

But then again, the Titan hadn't even been properly OC'd and it still beat the 780 by ~8%. OC the memory and the difference is once again the same old 10%. But then again I guess that's so small you can't notice it but 20% between the 7970GHz and the 780 is groundbreaking.

What is very disappointing is that this +38 mV limit is going to stay with us, from this reference card all the way up to whatever card partners produce (think MSI Lightning, ASUS TOP or EVGA Classified models), even if they have a more robust power section, NVIDIA is only going to allow that same +38 mV limit.

But still, the difference is around 10% between the cards. In order for a really good 780 to match a Titan you would have to get one bloody awful Titan.

That isn't really proof (Unless I've read it wrong and they stated they were informed this from AIB partners or nVidia),until I hear something from nVidia or a AIB partner the possibility of a unlocked GTX 780 is still there.

Yeah, beats Titan @ stock. But in a review it didn't OC too well, 1030 MHz compared to 1050MHz reference 780. So it's not binned most likely.

in one review i read rthat in about a month non-ref cards wil be for sale is this true? worth the wait?

Metro 2033 there is a very large difference in favor of Titan.
I wonder why.

GTX Titan = 72fps

GTX 780 = 46fps

GTX 780 OC = 52fps

I too would like to know when this will be available. Though in the review I read it only overclocked something like 10%.
