HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool - v2.1.8
Windows 8 users: Run as administrator as a windows will pop up asking for using compatible mode ( only for the first time )
Win98 boot DOS files: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Win98 boot DOS files
For use with HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool

Step 1
First things first, your going to need an easy to use USB utility so we recommend the HP USB Storage Format Tool (Yes that’s a link).
Step 2
You need some Windows 98 boot files so Click This Link
Step 3
Unzip the Windows 98 boot files and make sure you know where you unzipped them to. We unzipped to the desktop.
Unzip and install the HP Utility
Step 4
Insert the USB Stick you want to use into one of your USB ports.
Step 5
Launch the HP USB Utility and you’ll be greeted with this screen

Using the Drop Down List make sure that your USB Drive is selected.
Step 6

UNder the File System Drop Down list select FAT32 (File Allocation Table 32).
Step 7

Click the box next to Create a Dos Startup Disk.
Step 8

The “Using DOS system files located at” balloon will be automatically selected.
Step 9

Navigate to where you unzipped the Windows 98 Boot files and highlight that folder.
Step 10

Once you’ve done that the location of the Windows 98 boot files should now appear in the box below the “using DOS System files located at:” section.
At this point click START. (You may want to verify that your USB drive is highlighted and not your primary boot drive ;-0
Step 11

You get a warning about formatting your drive. Assuming that you have the correct drive selected click YES.
Step 12

Then wait while the dreaded Green line crawls across the screen. On the 1GB Sandisk Micro Cruzer we were using it took about 4 minutes. Larger drives will take longer.
Step 13

Once complete you get this confirmation screen. Click OK and you can close the HP Utility.
Step 14

These are the files on the USB Drive and those are enough to boot your rig with.
Step 15

If, like us, you want extended DOS functionality then copy the rest of the files in the Windows 98 folder to the root of the USB drive you just made bootable. This will give you mouse support, a rudimentary editor, FDISK in case you need to old school a drive, and some other handy DOS warrior type things.
Here’s what we did. On Windows Explorer click EDIT then Select ALL, then hover over COMMAND.COM and CTRL Click it to remove it from the list, then hover over MSDOS.SYS and CTRL click to remove it, then hover over IO.SYS and CTRL Click to remove it. Then just drag the remaining files and folders over to the USB drive and drop them. That should create a DOS Command Line Warriors emergency boot disk suitable for booting to and doing DOS things or flashing your motherboard or GPU BIOS.

I tryed the rev 4 of vBios but evertime i tryed to benchmark it, the clock went back to stock 1006Mhz.
So i went back to the orginal bios from the backup file.
Should i use the: Gigabyte.GTX780.3072.130516WF-PT+VOLT-BD.rev2 insteed? Even that i have a rev 2.0 card?

OCN: skyn3t vBios rev 3A : released date 11/29/2013: Spoiler! (Click to show)
vBios update. 11/29/2013

I would not call it rev 4 but rev 3A according to all bios version
I had to think a lot before doing this. As I posted it here before
"I would not going to give the 780 that much power". but I did tongue.gif

What you must know before you flash it.
before you flash this new vBios especially for "noobs"
that going to complain about high heat while gaming or benching
Shut down their PSU´s if mishandled. because you don't know
how to work with those values especially owners on AIR. if you are under water you fine.
you never going to exceed 50c.
On air you going to hit the max temp in a few minutes going to experience flickering all
over the screen while gaming and bench.

OC is not about throwing the High voltage and slide it to PX 200% or AB 300% Power limit.
You must learn how much voltage you add after each +13Mhz added to your OC.
As now you have zawarudo volt hack to go 1.6v above instead voltmod 1.3v + LLC.
So the same way he put the big warning add when use his tool I will add it here too.
because if you burn it down it will be all on you. don't even thing in blame me.

yeah you going to blame V8 Jaguar F-Type Coupe with 700 horsepower "I gave you 500 horsepower tongue.gif"
0 to 60 mph in just 4 seconds when you hit the wall at the top speed of 320K.
look at this Beastly: Spoiler! (Click to show)
76a7360e_JAGUARF-Type-4666_16.jpeg
do you?

For the shutdown's blame Ed, yes OccamRazor tongue.gif, he is the one that calculates the power usage for us
if you don't have enough juice, don't even take the red pill. thumb.gif

OCN: skyn3t vBios list

Many users had a issue with high base clock. so I decide to lower it a bit to fix that issue. some bios won't like it a all when moded , if you are on 980Mhz base clock and have no issue you don't need to flash to this new small revision.

OCN: skyn3t vBios rev 2 : List released date 07/22/2013

rev 2 update
  • Disable boost in all vBios.
  • Default power target = 340W ( no need to adjust it manually in Precision X )
  • Fixed TPD to 60% to 68% on load
  • Clocks are stock, card idles normally at 2d voltage
  • Fan speed adjustable up to 100%
  • Fixed Gigabyte WF vbios to act like a normal bios no more 1.212v all the time thumb.gif
  • Fixed Valley to show the real core clock.

Nvflash command line to be use.

Nvflash --protectoff
To disable the "eeprom security" to make sure you will have a good flash

Nvflash - 4 -5 -6 vBiosName.rom
To flash our custom vBios or bios.

After flash it may require to re install Nvidia drivers. you don't need to clean all the drivers just run a nvidia setup and choose custom installation and make sure you check the box performance a clean instal. It will do. thumb.gif

All Nvidia reference GPU can use any vbios that are reference "stock cooler". None reference cooler "Gigabyte ,ACX and HC" are not reference GPU in terms of dual fan profile or no fan like Hydro copper. it may work well but it may not. test it and let me know.

Also all load after valley bench.

I thank all of you for the support smile.gif

PS: Everyone that uses k-boost will have a issue with 1.212v all the time. Looks like k-boost messing with vBios.
The only way to fix it is to disable kboost ( for all have sli disable it first ) and reflash the GPU bios.

OccamRazor Advanced GK110 OC guide Advanced GK110 OC guide: Spoiler! (Click to show)
This guide applies only for 780/Titan, if and when we have support for the 780Ti, this guide will be updated to reflect the changes!

DISCLAIMER: This is my view and my approach of the complicated and wonderful art of Overclocking, if you find any way to improve my guide i will be open to change it and give you credit for it! I take no responsibility for the usage of this information or hardware damage! Use this at YOUR OWN RISK!

First of all dont forget you´re on OCN! You should have OC in your blood!
I WILL BE USING (AB) AfterBurner AS ITS THE ONLY SOFTWARE THAT ALLOWS SOFTWARE VOLTAGE CONTROL AND MONITORING
Download and install the latest AB here: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/msi_afterburner_beta_download.html
Now, youll have to setup AB properly: Go to settings » general and tick the "enable hardware control and monitoring", "unlock voltage control" and "unlock voltage monitoring" and click "OK" at the bottom fo the window!

Now download my: NEW ED´s VOLTMOD / LLC GUIDE and follow the guide to the letter including the LLC HACK as described in my guide also with a link to download!
Now a word of warning: ON AIR DO NOT GO ABOVE 1,24V WITH LLC DISABLED:
"Please do NOT GO ABOVE 1,212v WITH SOFT VOLT MOD AND LLC DISABLE! Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
No air cooler has the capacity to dissipate the heat load out of the VRM area when OC with overvoltage! And you cannot know the VRM´s temps, only do an estimate calculation based on your power draw! HEAT KILLS!
Exactly what happens depends on how excess the power is. It may be a sustained cooking. In this case, the MOSFET gets hot enough to literally unsolder itself. Much of the MOSFET heating at high currents is in the leads - which can quite easily unsolder themselves without the MOSFET failing! If the heat is generated in the chip, then it will get hot - but its maximum temperature is usually not silicon-restricted, but restricted by the fabrication. The silicon chip is bonded to the substrate by soft solder and it is quite easy to melt this and have it ooze between the epoxy and the metal of the body, forming solder droplets! Excess heat leads to short circuit! Usually, a MOSFET will fail short first. This is because excessive heat will, by diffusion, mix the dopants enough to create a good conductor instead of the p-n or n-p barriers that were there originally. Often, the gate oxide will be taken into the diffusion, too, causing a short between all three terminals.
Only if the short circuit current after this first mode of failure is high enough to blow the bond wires or the entire transistor, there is an open circuit.
Another forgotten thing is the voltage controller NCP4206 itself! its rated for a maximum operating temperature of 85C and again no way to measure the temperature!

Please guys PLAY SAFE!

ON AIR MAX VOLTAGE: 1.212v + 0.025 (+-) 0.006v = 1.24v(+-)
Keep the fan high and dont let temps go over 70/75C and even this is with a pinch of salt! thumb.gif"

Now that you have your friendly warning, lets go on and OC your "Beast" GK110! biggrin.gif
You have in AB five(5) sliders: Core Voltage (mV), Power Limit (%)(click to prioritize power limit or temperature limit), Core Clock (Mhz) , Memory Clock (Mhz) and Fan Speed (%)
As you all know OC involves clocks and voltages and one important thing: Silicone lottery! Your card will go up in clocks up to a point where voltage cannot give you more speed unless you move to other cooling setup! As i always say: " There is no crap card, there is different cards requiring different voltages to reach different clocks depending on the chips capabilities" My 2 Watercooled Titans ASIC 69%,@1,212v@1150mhz reach @1,40v@1400mhz!

First things first: Flash your card with the appropriate bios supplied by your in-the-house-modder my Brother Skyn3t!
It will unlock your voltage up to 1,212v, disable boost and increase your power target up to 200% to enable your card along with voltage to up those clocks to where you want them!

Titan Owners Club ( AKA T.O.C. Dinosaurs Club, thank Skupples for that Dino accronim biggrin.gif ) : http://www.overclock.net/t/1363440/nvidia-geforce-gtx-titan-owners-club/0_100#post_19353582

780 Owners Club: http://www.overclock.net/t/1393791/official-nvidia-gtx-780-owners-club/0_100#post_20027616

Now download EZ3flash: EZ3FLASH VBIOS TOOL W/SAVE FUNCTION
and my guide on how to use it: ED´S EZ3FLASH GUIDE

Now, you have your bios flashed, unlocked voltage, no boost and have a juicy power target of 200% to play with!

ON AIR - Set your voltage in AB to 1,212v (Remember that with LLC disabled you have an increase of 0.025v ending with 1,24v), prioritize temperature on the Power Limit tab , increase your fan to minimum 70% and increase it as you see temps go up, dont let it go above 80C! PT SLIDER TO 100 only increase it if you are having throttling clocks and hitting 100% PT (More on this later wink.gif)
Start by increasing +100mhz in the Core Clock tab, leave the memory at +0 for now, go play your favorite game or bench (I advise to use FarCry3 for clock testing along with Metro LL and 3Dmark11 you can use also Tombraider benchmark as many people have said its very stressing (not me! tongue.gif) )
If you find your new increased clocks are stable through your tests, go ahead and increase another +50mhz to the Core Clock and so on until you crash, freeze or start to have artifacts, then back down 10mhz and test again! REMEMBER IT IS STABLE FOR YOU WHEN IT DOESNT CRASH IN YOUR GAME/BENCH, you´ll find that the word stable is dynamic and not static as it will vary from game to game and bench to bench, unless you´re benching and of course you´ll need high memory clocks, but as there is no way to increase memory voltage and depends on memory and your chip´s memory controller your millage will vary!

Before you start to whine about "Hey what about the 13mhz increments, youre not doing in in the guide!"
The values i suggest are figurative and you can try the accurate values you want of course, more on the 13mhz here with my Brother´s explanation: http://www.overclock.net/t/1393791/official-nvidia-gtx-780-owners-club/13800_100#post_21206343

You can create profiles for your favorite games and benches in AB:

Now that you found your sweet spot between core clock and voltage, start increasing your memory OC with +50mhz at a time (I advise to test with Crysis 3, Metro LL) when it starts to give you artifacts back down 50mhz and you got your MAX core with your MAX memory OC,
Now i MUST emphasize that if you're on a single monitor you wont see much improvement in FPS and it might impair your core clock speeds as it will crash your card and you might blame your core when its the memory crashing your card! IF you have a 4K monitor or multi monitor then yes you will see an improvement in smoothness rather increase in FPS, so, OC your core first and after your memory!

What?!?!? Its not enough?!?!? You want more? Ok! thumb.gif
But you have to get wet...

ON WATER- Now that you have your brand new EK waterblock (I dont have to tell you its the best to cool your card´s VRM´s right? biggrin.gif ) installed and ready to rumble,
Crank that voltage to 1,300v, (remember its +0.025v landing you on the 1,330v area) set your core clock to 1200mhz, leave your memory at +0 and test it (Again FAR CRY 3 and METRO LL or 3DMARK11) increase core clocks until you start having crashes! AGAIN REMEMBER IT IS STABLE FOR YOU WHEN IT DOESNT CRASH IN YOUR GAME/BENCH, keep the temperature prioritized as your card´s under water and you have no temperature worries so with that free the power draw!
NOW lets talk a little about PT as it will become a challenge to understand it as it varies from card to card due each chip´s design;
You might have shutdowns because you set your PT too high! when you set your PT to the MAX and give enough voltage and clocks to the card you will have spikes in the current (Amperage) and your PSU if its not Single Rail it will EXCEED the 25/30A most Multi rail PSU´s have on the 12v PCIe and trip your PSU OCP (Over Current Protection)
IMO you only should increase your PT if you are seeing throttling clocks and hitting 100% PT!
Now go for the memory OC, same applies as above IMO you should not care much about memory unless you bench or have 4K or multi monitors!

Wait.. What? still not enough?!?!!?!? Woah! You´re tough as nails and have steel balls! alright then: thumb.gif

OVER THE BOARD: tongue.gif
Get the Zawarudos tool: ZAWARUDOV3 AfterBurner15/16

REMEMBER NOT TO HAVE THE VOLTAGE IN AB SET TO "AUTO" AS IT WILL RESULT IN A BSOD!

Enter your voltage as a 4 digit number

Remember that actual voltages are always 0.025v higher due to the LLC mod being enabled:

1400 = 1425 which is 1.425v due to LLC

After you've clicked the apply button and you're sure your volts are correct head over to your Afterburner program:

Then all you need to do is move your power target down one then back up one to make the apply button click-able.
Then just click the apply button and monitor the change using Afterburners graphs to verify it's worked.

Now you have your own personal nuclear plant in your own house!

Cheers all

How to remove Nvidia drivers guide by BradleyW Guide by Bradley: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I do like to disconnect from internet ( disable the network card or wireless till you get it done ) when I use his guide to remove the Nvidia drivers. If you are connected to the internet Windows 8 ( my OS, dunno about Windows 7 ) keep installing Nvidia drivers after you removed it.
Source
Driver sweeper has been known to remove important chipset files which will result in errors such as instability. Some users have reported that the sweeper software removes “False positives” and may cause the user issues when trying to install software such as drivers. The error usually reports that an .ini file is damaged. Over long term use of driver sweeper, it could cause several underlying issues which will do more harm than good.

This guide is an alternative, which removes all the files and registry entries that need to be removed for a successful uninstall. This is useful for upgrading/downgrading drivers or switching to another brand of card.

Nice chart he just made.

Ok let me clear this up Nvidia has been on that table for such a long time. IIRC Fermi has increment of +5 not sure but and error margin of -2 kepler has increment of +13 error margin of -1.
Sometimes even if you dial +13 in such a core clock close to any number by half I mean 901.5 Mhz and you add +13 to move tha cloc clock up you need to add the error margin +1 in order to get going and use the increment +13.

Some architecture has the error margin of -3 to -6 depends on how they clock the GPU. I know it is a such a bug but It is what it is. upsidedwnsmiley.gif
It is good that you guys start this conversation here because I have seen many video review on YouTube the guys keep add round numbers to OC the GPU. I had changed my pant's many time lol

EVGA PRECISION X FAQ understand the Values to OC: Spoiler! (Click to show)

EVGA PRECISION X FAQ

Q. What is Frame Rate Target and what does it do?
A. Frame Rate Target limits your framerate to the specified setting. On 600 series cards, the frame rate limiter will also allow the card to limit the amount of power utilized to match the specified framerate. Note: you must restart the application for the setting to apply.
Q. Can I type in values?
A. Yes, this can be done by simply clicking on the numerical value that you wish to change. After clicking you can type in a value.
Q. I set an overclock too high and my screen is distorted! How can I revert it?
A. You may try to press + to immediately reset clock frequencies to defaults. If you applied unsafe clock frequencies at Windows startup and your screen is distorted when Windows starts you may hold after logging in Windows to prevent these clocks from being applied.
Q. How can I set a custom fan curve?
A. Click the Fan Curve button, then select “Enable software automatic fan control”. After this you can setup a custom fan curve.
Q. When I adjust voltage on my 600 series card, the value doesn’t stick! What do I do?
A. The 600 series cards are very dynamic, and adjust voltage in real time to match the operating frequency. On a 600 series card, the voltage slider specifies a "maximum" voltage. Note: On a 600 series card, setting a custom voltage level does not always allow for higher overclocks, in fact it may even decrease clocks by increasing heat and power draw. It is not recommended to change voltage on 600 series cards.
Q. What is Power Target and how does it affect my card?
A. Power Target is a power limiter. Increasing the Power Target will increase the available power to your graphics card, allowing for higher overclocks, or higher boost clocks. NOTE: Increasing this value may increase your GPU temperature. This feature is only available on 600 series graphics cards.
Q. What is a Clock Offset?
A. Clock offsets are the new way to overclock for 600 series graphics cards. You overclock by setting an offset value, this value is + or – every prequalified clockspeed. EG: If your boost clock is 1058MHz, setting a +100MHz offset will make your boost clock 1158MHz. Note: This setting only applies to 600 series graphics cards.
Q. How do I enable the On-Screen Display (OSD)?
A. Click the Monitoring button, select the feature you wish to see on screen, and select "Show in On-Screen Display"
Q. Why is my GPU Clock is jumping all around on my 600 series card?
A. This new architecture dynamically changes the GPU Clock depending on the temperature, application and power draw. You may see this lower or higher speeds depending on the application.
Q. I enabled the OSD, but I do not see it in my games! What's wrong?
A. Firstly, the OSD is not compatible with 100% of applications, in particular those that are natively 64bit. (eg. 3DMark11) If your application is not a native 64bit app, and the OSD is still not applying, try changing the On-Screen Display rendering mode from Vector 3D to Vector 2D. You can do this from the Statics Server icon in your system tray.
Q. My Test button is grayed out.
A. This is meant to be used when EVGA OC Scanner is also installed. Selecting the test button will automatically load a 3D stress test.
Q. Does EVGA Precision X need to be running in the background to set clockspeeds and settings?
A. No, EVGA Precision does not need to be running, just make sure to select the Apply button before exiting.
Q. I see Power (Optional), GPU Clock and Memory Clock in the monitoring window, how can I view more?
A. Simply double click this area to show all vitals.
Q. How do I change what graphs are shown at the bottom of Precision X?
A. Click on monitoring. The top 3 graphs listed will be shown at the bottom of the application. Drag and drop items from the list to arrange which graphs are shown.

GeForce 314.22 modified to support Vista, W7 and W8 and GTX 4way SLI. How to install nv_disp MoDeD file: Spoiler! (Click to show)
How to install nv_disp MoDeD file: Spoiler!]

Thank videocardz for recognizing my effort and shinned the truth to our community.
PS: I hate making videos but here is a quick guide with every step how you prepare the 314.22 drivers with moded inf file.
Reason I picked 314.22 drivers
  • Very stable drivers on 600's series
  • It does support Titan GPU, so it means I does have all necessaries files to enable the GTX 780 even more with 4way SLI.

nv_disp.314.22-Vista.W7.W8.zip 20k .zip file

Newer drivers above 320.00 this nv_disp won't work. the 4way sli is locked in software by Nvidia. frown.gif

1 - Download the Nvidia 314.22 from Nvidia site and save it to Desktop. Download Link

2 - Download the Nvidia 314.22 nv_disp.inf moded.

3 - Check "C:\" drive If you have "Nvidia" folder there. If yes delete it first.

4 - Click the Nvidia setup file "314.22-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-english-whql.exe" you just dowbloaded from Nvidia site and let it extract to C:\Nvidia. The setup will fail because the 314.22 drivers only have support to Titan GPU.

5 - Go to "C:\" and open "Nvidia" folder. In the search box top left corner type "nv_disp" without quote.
Right click on "nv_disp" and choose "Open file location" and replace it "you can drag and drop and override the original file with "nv_disp" moded you just downloaded.

6 - Since Nvidia 314.22 has no support for GTX 780 you need to boot into Windows vista / 7/ 8
with "Disable Driver signature enforcement"
Disable driver signature enforcement in
How to turn off driver signature enforcement in windows 7
How To Disable Driver Signature Enforcement In Windows 8

7 - After you boot into Windows with "Disable Driver signature enforcement". Just go to where the files was extrated "step #3 "C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\314.22\Win8_WinVista_Win7_64\English" click the "Setup" file and voala let it install, reboot and done smile.gif
have fun

Do you guys think a switching from a 7970GHz would be worth? And would it sell fast on ebay? I saw some benchs and the 700 stays at about 15fps difference.

I refuse to pay 1k EACH for a graphics cards when I have to have two. Evga will release 6gb 780s for prob $100 more down the road. I got time to wait anyways, in the middle of selling a house and buying a new house.
