It's about time we heard something from these guys... watching now...

Video is unlisted... how did you get the link to it?

I love how they try to compare speed with copying a file from a usb stick to the hardrive to loading the file directly from the usb stick. I also like how they say we don't run it from ram, we run it straight from the harddrive!

Love these guys, they really try hard.

Are these the same psycho's that made that pre rendered scene "real time rendering" island thing?

I'd love to know if this isn't BS and it can actually help gaming, 3d space editing and rendering and such.

I'm pretty sure if this "point cloud data" was real and actually was a breakthrough something would've been said from someone well known. It just seems silly

Seems like a big marketing pitch with very little of the tech actually being explained properly... and their microphone was obviously of low quality

What they are doing is using a program to identify certain points in 3D data, and they use these points when the map is moving around, then load the rest of the data on the fly as needed. So you have to run a program, which they didn't say how long that takes, but i imagine it's probably pretty long since they didn't mention it, that figures out all the points it's going to use, puts those in a database, and uses the database for quick look ups.

Of course, some aspects of it might be great for gaming, but most of it isn't anything new, just applied a different way to the Virtual Landscape.
