Hardly.

Please link me to a "Positive Source" of these 6gb 780's you speak so fondly of biggrin.gif

Let me reiterate my last post...

I never said they where making a 780 INTO a Titan.

I simply said, Why would they release a 6GB 780 for $100 more, People wont touch titans because of the performance difference being so LITTLE.

Thus causing nvidia to loose sales on there more expensive cards.

No it's not.

Look at the 680s vs. the 680 4gb's...

The 780 had HARDWARE REMOVED...Thus it's price-point...Modifying the ram, on a lesser product, will not interfere with the flagship's sales...

While there's never been a "Titan" to challenge the mini...Never doubt.

I unfortunately can't link or give sources as to the 780 6gb because it would be a fierce NDA violation but, if you look at my posts back in February, when I "predicted" (COUGH COUGH) the 780's, I think you'd find the individual you're speaking to, to be a reliable source of what may or may not be coming. *COUGH COUGH*

Give it a few weeks...Otherwise, if you can find a Titan for sub 1k, I think that would be a good buy, regardless...Just keep in mind, SLI'd 780's will beat a Titan by @ 30%.

TITAN market is dead @ the $999 price, anyway. There are many TITAN users feeling a buyer´s remorse for the $350 tag paid just to get the "feel" of being premium for only 3 months. Performance differences between the 780 and TITAN is meaningless. So I think it´s more likely to expect a drop at the titanic $999 price, than a 6GB version of a 780.

I expect TITANs selling for $800 in near future (you already can get used ones at that price, I think. Many single TITAN owners might wanna sell them and go for SLI 780s).

This exactly.

A release of the 6gb 780 would cause the titan market to fall even more.

I sure as hell wouldn't pay an extra $350 for 7% (1-3fps) performance difference..

Dang I'm in the same pickle. I can get an EVGA GTX 680 2GB for $270 locally. I currently have a single msi 2gb gtx 680. I was thinking about doing an SLI but I can't decide if I should just sell my card or go SLI. Mind you, $270 for a gtx 680 is a steal thumb.gif I am leaning towards doing an SLI though, as NVIDIA are usually good with their SLI drivers. Oh and I am running a catleap 1440p and a single gtx 680 can't max everything out thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

I bought the GTX 680 about 1-2 months after it came out for $500, and another not too long ago (used) for $350. I have a 3770K running on a 30" Samsung 305T+ 2560x1600. I've never once had any issues with SLI all of the games run smooth as butter. I've even ran Crysis 3 and it never had a problem with VRAM or anything. I highly suggest GTX 680 SLI especially for getting one at $270. I'm very happy with my setup and I don't foresee myself upgrading anytime soon.

Hope this helps

Yeah I did go with the sli setup. I bought a month month old MSI twin Frozr locally, and it was a real steal. The guy I bought it from has a friend that works at newegg and he got the 680 at a discount and a titan at a discount as well. So he decided to sell the one month old twin frozr and kept the titan instead. Man am I glad I went for this setup. I highly recommend going this way if you can find a gtx 680 for a steal like I did.

Evga 680 4gb SLI for the win. These cards will smash AND do smash any game out there... Crysis 3 sees 3 and a bit more gb with triple monitors..

the evga 4gb gtx 680's r pretty buff... i just got mine few weeks back cos my local pc store dropped the classified 680's to about 640 AUD which is $60 off normal price but still damn these cards punch hard, to be honest from the specs of the 780's one feels that maybe waiting a while till "higher vram" "SC' "SE" "LE" Classified" editions come out and maybe ...hopefully we see a drop in 780 price for those who want them but cant justify them at their current price like the titans, im not saying me but for those out there....and also both gumbie and masked both make good argument from where im sitting

phaseshift its prob a close one, but IMO id go the sli 680's smile.gif and remember how long it took for "them " to perfect the 680 drivers to our needs took a while so its not just a case of new GPU but also new Kepler arch so maybe new driver issues who knows its a new born card, smile.gif

good luck:)

680 SLI all the way.

Not only do i refuse to pay 200$ more for a reference card over the 680.

I mean the jump in performance between 580 and 680 was not less than between the 680 and 780 so its just a scam to sell a 780 for that much more if u ask me.

It might look normal because they very smartly released a titan before it but it's all done with this in mind.

Besides that when i add a second 680 i will totally destroy a 780 in performance for half the price so yeah im skipping this 7series.

And talking about sli problems is so 2008. I consider myself a seasoned gamer and play the newest games all the time and cant remember a game that had problems.

I am glad that i am not the only one who thinks about it this way because bacause u can take it to the bank yhat if the 780 sells like previous top end of the line cards the price will be the new standard.

you guys also need to remember the titan is a workhorse card not a gaming card. the 780 is a gaming card.
