yeah nice scores.(jealous) but im on my way to that rig. i personally like crt's too. in quake4 ive heard ID locks their fps at like 60 or 80 something like that so u cant really go much higher. if i remember correctly from an old interview with mcgee i think

Wow, rep for you, it's stuck at 60 and I couldn't figure out why. It could be raining strogg cats and dogs and it wouldn't go any lower, but I was curious about that. I thought fraps wasn't reading any higher or something.

I bet I can change that now in console, ID wouldn't let me pick 1920x1440 either but you can fix that, and most anything else with console.

com_fixedTic [-1,0,1] - If set to 0 (the default) Quake 4's ticrate is capped at 60, meaning the game framerate cannot exceed 60FPS, except when running a timedemo. If you want to remove this cap, set com_fixedTic to -1. Setting it to 1 removes the cap, but causes the game physics to go out of sync. Removing the FPS cap doesn't necessarily improve performance, and can lead to more variable framerates. Any frames over 60FPS will typically be duplicates and hence there is no real performance benefit. Note that as of the 1.04 patch that com_fixedtic -1 is no longer accepted, 0 and 1 are the only working options.

I pencil modded the memory voltage from 1.95v to 2.05v, then 2.1v and 2.2v, and as I sort of expected, adding voltage did not help get the memory even to 1025mhz without getting the same artifacts.

It seems like cards that by default have tight memory timings like the 8800gtx, x1900xtx, and 7900gtx do not get as much benefit from added vmem as older cards with looser timings did, they just get hotter. Worth the try I guess..

Someone doesn't know what a video card minus a PCB looks like. Thats the cooler on the couch.
