Overclocking ??????????

when you overclock the CPU is there any advantage to give the Ram a little extra voltage?

FX8350

hello,
the reason is to assure stability, but if the rams unstable, why did they sell me it?
they say to give about.5v to 1.55v , I don't know why though either...
I'm using stock 1.5v

my ram is stable am a first time overclocker working on getting my FX 8350 to 5GHz and just want to know if a some extra voltage on the ram can make a more stable OC on the cpu

A few extra mV wont hurt your Ram, they are built to withstand tolerances from PSU's of 6-8%. all 1.65v ram is fine at 1.70v.
Generally it helps to maintain stability with higher clock speeds, it doesn't help much with timings at all.
But if you don't need to increase voltage, then why do it?

Overclock your system in stages so you can identify what's causing the problem if it locks/bluescreens. If you just do everything at once, you'll have no clue what could be causing instability.

If you have instability in your memory after increasing FSB then see if a few extra mV increases stability.

Less voltage is more in overclocking!
