It probably broke and you voided your warranty. Buy a new one.

'Buy a new one' not what I had in mind mate!!! I want to upgrade to something with better resolution and tracking accuracy with an ambidextrous shape I was thinking possibly the G100s, Kana and maybe Abyssus.

I don't like big heavy mice so DA, G400 and what not is out of the question.... tried G400 didn't like it returned it - reason: too big and heavy.

400 DPI is simply unusable on a 1920x1080 monitor for gaming!!! 800 DPI is the minimum for todays res... the WMO is unusable as a gaming mouse on a modern setup anymore... I used to use the basic optical and wmo for the best part of 10 years but now I upgraded my monitor and got a new mid range PC my mouse needs to match this new technology.

N.B THE G100S STILL ISN'T OUT IN UK!!!

Sounds like you need a Zowie EC2 eVo. Smaller than the Deathadder and incredibly lightweight.

You would need to use the second DPI step though, which is 1150.

Open it up and fix what broke. If you're gonna senselessly slam things, you really should learn how to fix things. I can't tell you how many NES and PS controllers I broke when I was a kid but no one was buying me new ones so fixing them was my only option. Not much I can't fix now.

WMO is only good for old games like Quake and CS.... it can't be used for newer games.

All other gaming mice seem to be bad one way or another that have similar shape... G100s seems like a good option though... but there is no 400 DPI step which for Quake is required.

The new DA 2013 is significantly lighter (this is from experience).

Why do you always come up with this garbage? Newer games don't autimatically need more than 400 dpi. Many new shooters work flawlessly with your beloved WMO as long as you don't need more than 1.3 m/s max tracking speeds
And regarding the G100s: the 400 dpi step isn't required for quake, you can set sensitivities below 1 via console or config. So you could run 8000 dpi and sens 0.05 and would get the same cm/360° as with 400 dpi and sens 1.
