I5 2500K +/- offset and LLC issue.

Alright, now i see everyone uses + offset usually, but here's my issue on my z77 ud3h I have LLC set to turbo, and my i5 2500k does 4.5ghz at 1.35v fine but the issue is, to get 1.35 I have to set it to -0.035v in the bios, why do i have to go negative? I'm having idle bsods because of it. my VID according to realtemp is 1.4v during IBT with 4.5ghz

You have to go negative because the chips thinks it needs more voltage (the VID) than it really does to be stable at that speed, and because you are using such a high setting for LLC (which is artificially inflating your load voltage). 

 

Reset your LLC to something lower, something in the middle of the range, and then increase your offset (closer to 0).  That'll raise your idle voltage back to normal without affecting your load voltage.  You'll probably have to do some trial and error on the offset to get it right, but since you already know your desired load voltage is it shouldn't be too much trouble.

I recommend going with fixed voltage unless you plan on idling a lot (in that case, go fold or boinc).

It could be your chip needs a bit more voltage for offset, which is normal (I think 0.02-0.03V more is the norm).
