okay i m first on any forum about computer so sorry for mistakes to be made and some which might have already been made in advance.
i have been postponing my new rig for steamroller fx chips. today just found that the apu's based on steamroller core has been launched. now most probably steamroller fx slated for october launch. should i wait for one or should i go with fx 8350 and intel doesnt interest me at all. i have a 2400 and i am looking forward to amd this time.
thanks in advance

You're mistaken, there have been no Steamroller-based APUs launched to date. The new "Richland" APUs launched recently are still Piledriver-based.

Are you talking about Kabini and Temash? They're not based on steamroller architecture. They ARE AMDs first kick at the can with 28nm x86 CPUs though.

OP, as others have stated you are misinformed,as there are no Steamroller chips of any kind available atm. The 8350 is really good and I'd probably just go with that. The PC enthusiast Steamrollers won't be out until next year, as I believe they are releasing some APU's with that chipset first (later this year). Next year seems a long time to wait!

Probably no APU or CPU Steamroller core retail parts until early to mid-2014.

Not true according to AMD's newly released timeline in April. APU's should be out by the end of this year while performance desktop will be 2014. http://www.guru3d.com/news_story/amd_steamroller_on_track_for_2013_launch.html

You misinterpret what you just read. Per the link I referenced, PERFORMANCE DESKTOP PROCESSORS - in other words, NON apu's (Steamroller cpu's) will be out in 2014. The APU's featuring Steamroller (retail) should be out at the end of this year. Those are not considered performance enthusiast processors. Good lord, how many ways can one say it lol

You will almost certainly not be able to purchase a Steamroller (Kaveri) APU in any form in 2013. Period.

AMD said it was shipping mobile Richland APUs to manufactures in January of this year. Here we are almost in June and still no retail computers featuring Richland. Shipping anything Steamroller in late 2013 is purely from an AMD business standpoint. End users will not see it for many months after the fact. And this is assuming there aren't unforeseen delays from their public schedule, which is a big assumption given the new fab process as well as a new core design.
