Power Supply for GTX 780?

Thread Starter
Just wondering if my HX750 is enough for a single 780?
Read in another thread that the HX850 is good for sli so im guessing one 780 should be fine on a 750w.

You could get by with a good quality 450W so your HX750 is definitely enough.

More than enough, you could do SLI on a quality 750w.

source

(440w @ 85% efficiency = 374w is what the system is really pulling from the power supply)

So I could OC it and also not worry about my CPU being OCed?
I dont really understand the whole power stuff. Ive used those power supply calcs, and they always seem to go a bit high.

This guy has it right!

Your 750w is way overkill and you could easily power Two GTX 780s with it.

Yes you have power for two if you want

Newer hardware use less power not more

Depends, but the jump from a reference GTX 680 to a reference GTX 780 is about 55w more.

195w vs 250w.

Should be okay, unless you're going to be folding (GPU and CPU) days on end with overvolted overclocks, in which case it might give the PSU a bit of a hard time (but the HX750 is a quality PSU). The above chart shows a 780 SLI at 440w (394w) without considering CPU load and most likely a GPU overclock, however I'm sure that the 350w remaining should be enough for a CPU and GPU overclock unless I'm wrong in which case someone please correct me.

Well this makes me feel better. I always thought you need like 850 and up power supply for dual cards.
I got the HX750w at the time cause thats what those power calcs said.
For the next build il have to ask around here first, so i dont go over and spend more than i need to.
Thanks for all the quick replies!
