short on money and need your advice

Thread Starter
so as the title say I start building my new PC and got little short on money and need your advice guys
this is the original plan, or what left I need to finish the build :

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor ($194.55)
Motherboard: Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 ($129.99) Originally had in mind the Sabertooth ($179.99)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($89.99)
Total: $414.53

Should I wait for the best setup (in my opinion) or get something lower/cheaper for now and upgrade later ?

example for the HDD I can go WB blue instead of black and save $20-25 but then that's only $25 for more storage and more speed
same thing for the CPU and MB, I don't think i want to go any where lower than 990FX now because i don't want to change the MB in a year unless I really have too (see oops I burnt my motherboard), same thing for the processor.

ohh I almost forgot, people love to ask about this: the rest of the parts I already purchased is in my signature and this build is for mix work/light gaming, work will involve VM, oracle DB work and some light coding, play is all the strategy games i missed in the last few years tongue.gif, and if the new xbox is not backward compatible then it will be a full gaming PC later.

thanks in advance smile.gif

You can save a bit without losing any performance if you change the cpu to a 8320, easily overclockable to 8350 speeds and then some and save some more if you go with WD blue WD10EZEX 1Tb which a single platter and performs great.

Yeah I guess if I go with the 8320 and wd blue I'll save about $50, I'm still debating if i should do that or not,
the thing is they all were on sale when i got my last parts shipment may 19th i believe, the cpu was 179, hdd 79 and mb was something like 114, but at the same time, the case i bought 500R was 94, EVGA 750B was 88, so i got some of the sales and missed the others, now i wish if i have ordered everything that day frown.gif

i'm waiting to see if anyplace i trust have anything i want on sale for memorial weekend.

Have you considered the fx-6350?

From what I have read, it performs that all that much worse than the 8 series. I can run BF3 on ultra with ease with it.

8320, wd blue, and a 970 gigabyte mobo if you don't plan on sli/cfx later.

Do you have an case for it? If not i don't mean to butt in but i am selling an case if you're interested. It's an NZXT case. And i do RECOMMEND the Sabretooth motherboard.
I doubt you can play anything with acceptable frame rates with the GPU you picked out.

Whenever I'm in a predicament like this, I usually try and find something to sell. I also cannibalize old systems for new ones to offset the cost.

Good luck with whatever you decide. thumbsupsmiley.png
