Honestly I'm a bit upset, however, if they can make a game look better while using an older engine then by all means go for it. It actually might give them time to make the game itself better as opposed to "It's the same stuff, but SHINER"

Plus, new games are put on old engines all the time, look at Source, it's still the same engine from 2004, just with upgrades. This might be in the same sort of boat

Nothing surprising...

The thing that sucks about CoD is how little information they are willing to share about the PC platform release. Mark my words it will be mid-late October before we have any clue as to how they intend to handle servers.

To say that Quake's engine is inferior would be just wrong. It's led to the development of so many newer games, all pushing the graphical abilities of what is possible. It's really kind of an amazement thing, as how long the engine has been around, yet STILL presses onward past what most people think is crazy. Don't get me wrong, I loved playing Duke3d and the Doom series, but the Quake engine has engineered so many new titles under the same engine that it should be stated that it's not the best engine just because it was one of the first FPS's, it's one of the best engines because simply what it has done for the entire realm of gaming.
