There is no hope for COD or IW when easy cash is the incentive behind both companies now - long gone is the Activision of old, once willing to give the IW devs the freedom they needed to create great COD games, now all we get is recycled game engines and new artwork - they should be called expansion packs now, not new games.

This is the most accurate representation of the Call of Duty series ever.

And this is why I'm waiting for Respawn Entertainment's first release as it is basically all the same guys that made Call of Duty (2003, PC only).

im waiting for more official news before i pass falsely assumed judgement. i hope to not be disappointed as everyone else. but what i hope for more is news about this game that makes all the arguments over what everyone predicts that will make everyone feel incredibly dumb tongue.gif i love seeing people that argue something like this and then get totally shocked when they are way wrong. but as everyone else i share the same assumptions in order to not let myself be too upset tongue.gif

Too bad how this happens before every new CoD comes out and they're proven right come November. I had the same negativity towards MW3, was proven right. Same towards BO2, was proven right and then some.

So the engine is older than most COD players? biggrin.gif

Also it's entirely possible to make a new engine (or an insane upgrade) in 2 years; Cryengine 2 (Crysis) came out November 13th, 2007. The first version of Cryengine 3 was October 14th, 2009. That's 1 year, 11 months and 1 day, and we got:
DX11 (new render path)
Tesselation
Massively increased performance (1 million polies in CE2 caused epicly low FPS, CE3 it's no issue)
Irradiance
Real-Time GI (was baked in CE2)
Light volume (physical based sun-shafts rather than screen-based in CE2)
Massively improved particles (shadows, moblur, etc.)
Screen-space reflections (technically a cheat, but still)
Pixel-accurate POM (improved over screen-based in CE2)
SSDO (up from SSAO)
Deferred render (rather than forward rendering)
etc.

Meanwhile IW, with its near infinite money from CODXYZ can't managed to finally go to a new engine, and has to stick to one from 1999 because "its too hard" to make a new one.... Haaaaaa

What is PROBABLY is, is that they think the upgrade to 1080p will mean enough of a change that the CoD fans will be pleased. Why invest the extra money in actually making a new engine, when you could just increase profit margins by using what works.

Sure the graphics are spectacular on Crysis, but can you say the same for its gameplay? Even on OCN, the general consensus seems to be that Crysis 3 had poor gameplay.

I would also imagine it would be very difficult to mimic the same CoD mechanics that came from the Quake 3 engine.

Tell the consumers you can tweak the engine, but the whole time it's the same ole thing.

But people will continue to bash BF3/4 even though it's has everything a modern shooter needs, except what they personalty want. Keep moving the goal line folks.

Netcode alone, makes that game not enjoyable for me. Quake 3's netcode is folds better.

Gameplay > GFX

Edit: CoD is mindlessly fun. Playing with 1/3 attention while watching NHL playoffs and dropping high KDR games. That's fun. However I do prefer other FPS games over CoD. ie BF3 and CSGO. But I'm so burnt on FPS I've began picking up other games.

Wrong mentality around here. wink.gif

Because they pair the AK with the M16, they have to balance stats. If everybody had a chance at weapons, the ANXX would suck balls compared to any MXX weapon.

You call this natural? Natural!? What is natural about neutered recoil and spread? it's like playing a child's game. Te only game I cared to cheat on? MWX, nothing else was worth it. It's the lowest of games played, in competition or anywhere else. Granted it might have a lot of players, that doesn't mean they know squat about how guns should handle.

How does a .50 handgun handle? Hell, how does a R700 sniper rifle not kill on single shots? How!? Or how about the berret .50 caliber not kill on one shot in standard death match? Are you serious!?!?!?!

Do you realize that a .50 caliber weapon not only takes off a limb,it can split a body in two? No, that isn't just sad it is wrong. Screw COD, it defiles the idea of even death match. No matter what you say, I can bring in balance ideas that make your head spin.

CoD always had a larger competitive scene than BattleField. CoD actually made it to a few international events, where as BF only made it to one and it was only a BYOC and a completely after thought.

Why are we blaming the consumers? The people buying CoD titles ENJOY the gameplay. Clearly the gameplay exceeds their expectations on better graphics.

Just so you guys know, when this game is released, you would already have a visual confirmation of what Call of Duty will look like for the next 15+ years until the next generation of consoles. Meaning in in the year 2028, since it's "impossible for them to develop a new engine", they will still produce Call of Duty games that look like a Burger King breakfast platter.
It's really unfortunate.

Let's take a hypothetical situation. Assume in the year 2028 the GTX titan is still the top single GPU (hypothetically speaking....) new consoles come out that surprise every one, PlayStation5 and Xbox...Two. Each running SLI Titans, Call of Duty announced on day 1 reveal, but still looks like something from Nintendo 64 on a console capable of running anything.

Gamers: Why has COD had no major overhauls since 2009 (MW2)
Infinity ward: Silence Child, It would be “impossible to develop a new engine from the ground up in a two years cycle
[Insert clever excuse meme here]

How long will they use this excuse before something actually changes.

I'm not surprised at all. The lighting looked exactly like in the old games, same colors and everything. Plastic 5 year old graphics.
