How the F did you pull out the CPU with it. must not have been inserted, if you take an exacto knife you should be able to carefully bend them as straight as possible and should be ok provided the pins are not actually broken.;

It's not as hard as it sounds. I did it too, but my credit card (once again rolleyes.gif ) came through for me.

Rather than use a blow dryer to heat it up before removing like someone above suggested, just put it through some P95/IBT/LinX/What ever you like to use for a few minutes and it should be good to go thumb.gif

Although I've never had this issue (thank god) I've read about others having it before I installed my after market cooler and got nervous about it so went ahead and put it under some P95 for a little while.

Okay. Now I am really mad.

I got it off using a hair dryer. Loosened it up and I began twisting it slowly to break through the paste. I had to use a bit of force as its quite sticky. Then out of nowhere the thing breaks loose. Goes flying out of my hands and lands corner/lid side down on the tile floor. mad.gifmad.gifmad.gifmad.gifmad.gifmad.gifmad.gifmad.gifmad.gifmad.gifmad.gif

It split part of the pcb and dented the lid slightly. Fell from about 3ft or so.

Im now heated and mange to get the thing back in the socket(didnt drop right in like it used to. Had to kind of push it in). Went to try and put in my old cooler and the amd bits it comes with dont even work. I dont see how its possible as they arms to too short, either going to sell it or take out my frustrations by breaking the thing(havnt decided). Took that off and then had to re-apply thermal paste all over again and put the old cooler back on.

Running p95 and so far everything seems fine. Any chance I may have done any damage that will effect it long term?

in my experience its best to let your cpu get on temperature ( running a while with low rpm on fans) case open and ready to take it out as soon as you turn of pc thumb.gif
at least that's what works for me . good luck getting your bend pins straight. that's not so hard to do

of cours i don't have that problem with am3+ socket

Whatever the crap was that came on the stock heatsink.

happened to me once, just I didn't bend any pins.

Darn AMD sockets!

but like the guy above me said, run prime95 for a few minutes and turn off your computer while the cpu stress program is still running. It'll make your thermal paste nice and toasty thumb.gif

This works really well.

Also, use a credit card to wedge and create an air pocket between the cpu and heatsink that is out of the socket. Be sure to hold onto the cpu while doing this.
