I changed from GTX 670 3-way SLi to GTX 780 SLi friday. http://www.overclock.net/t/1405810/upgrading-the-gtx-670s/40

Well, once I get home I'll test my setup in Heaven Benchmark.

On 3Dmark 11 and on Firestrike, the difference between my cards against triSLI GTX 670 in the graphical score (disregarding the processor) is around 20% against among the best overclockers...
(And I'm am NOT among the best overclockers of the GTX 780)

My card against the BEST result of 3 gtx 670 is almost 10%, and again, I'm far away of being the best result of the GTX 780 on 3Dmarks.

So I would say the difference is higher than only 3-4%
But again, for now I'm checking only what I can check here from work... late at home I'll pass Uningine benches and see how it fares, if it gets worse...

Here you go!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/n5dwr9kkulwd8yw/Unigine_Heaven_Benchmark_4.0_20130717_2024.html

It is a 22% difference wink.gif

and that with Stock bios and voltages!
I will see that score get better after I flash a Custom Bios with unlocked voltages! biggrin.gif

I believe that even overclocked the GTX 670 tri SLI doesn't make the gap closer than 10%

2x GTX 690 as they are 4 GPUS will bring you some headaches but when everything is running well, it will outperform 2 GTX 780

For the price of two GTX 690, I would go for 2 Titans or 3 GTX 780 though.

Also the HDs9000 are around the corner, and though I prefer Nvidia myself, the rumors are that the top tier flagship will blow Titans out of the water, and probably be cheaper or same price as the GTX 780.
EVEN if it isn't the same price OR if you don't want ATI, tehy will bring the GTX 780 prices down, to probably around USD 550.

NOPE... not true, i believe the 7970's/770's 3 way would be faster.

My SLI 770's are already not that far from your 780 SLI. And i am also not the "best" overclocker out there. I can imagine a good overclocker with 7970/770 3 way setup getting about 36,000 or more on the graphics score.

My 770 SLI on 3d Mark 11 is 20.1% slower than your 780 SLI setup wink.gif(not taking into account that you have a better processor. Just looking at graphics score here)

I made a search for 3D Mark11 3930k + 770 3x SLI.

They range from 28k to 32k (the very best, also looking only the graphics score), so I still believe that tri-way 770 will sit close to 780 2x SLI.
They have some potential to outperform the 780s but slightly. It still is a tri-card setup against a dual card, so potentially more troubling as well.

And being the 770 stronger than 7970, I say that 7970 3x CX are a poorer solution than the 780 2x SLI, being comparable price-wise. wink.gif

Just a note, I'm seeing the 770 when overclocked not going beyond what some the best 680 (DC2T for instance) were capable... Being the MEM clocks the only advantage. That confirms?

I am talking about stock clocks to stock clocks and no overclocking involved. That's why i wrote 3-4% difference - I'm referring to my own experience going from GTX 670 2GB 3 way Sli to GTX 780 3GB SLi.
My results are here: http://www.overclock.net/t/1405810/upgrading-the-gtx-670s/40#post_20398235
