What? It doesn't have that?

Go home engineer. You're drunk.
Or 4 xeons, though I don't know that any motherboards can support both 4 cpus and 4 titans.

Who cares about Xeon cores (it's overkill). Plainly speaking, what about a full fledged Vishera clocked to 4.0 (easy on almost every chip) with a 7970? That alone spanks a console. So you get into OS? Stripped down windows, or heck just plain Win7. Put it on an SSD for the opsys, get a raptor for storage/programs (plenty fast enough). Throw in 12GB DDR3 clocked to 2100. What? Seriously, what's a console have on that? GDDR5? With proper development we've got enough GDDR5 on the graphics card. PLENTY. Throw in a tweeny bit of HSA, killer games.

Heck, we got Crysis 3 in full glory working at a min of 30 playable FPS (on "decent" systems). Some may not like it but it won't dip and that's easily enough for SP. MP, maybe not but just down the setting s a little. My PHII x4 got a min of 40fps through the majority of the SP campaign. Some 25-30 dips, nothing I cried about. That's pretty old compared to the tech in the new consoles.

Statements like this make me sick, it's a PR grab for people who don't have a high end rig. Plain and simple. Granted, they have the ability to get real close to the highest end rigs. Close only counts in a few things, horse shoes and hand grenades. Neither of which count in this.

With that aside, I'm still excited for the consoles. Not getting one, just hopes that they will push developers boundaries and allow for better PC ports.

Happy Birthday.

4 PCI-E slots. Slap in 4 Titans with waterblocks. Probably not a gaming oriented board (duh), but just letting you know, the PS4 is more powerful then this tongue.gif And that it does exist, and technically, can house four 2011 Xeons and 4 Nvidia Titans at once.

Especially when most console games run at 30 fps anyways.

One gen ahead of high end pc? Thats a bold statement seeing that the hardware thats already in the xbox one/ps4 is already outdated before it comes out and its not released yet. I would love to see battlefield 4 on the "so called next-gen"consoles compared to a sick high end pc which consoles will lose that battle

The GPUs are outdated, but not necessarily other parts like the CPUs. The PS4 is also running GDDR5 RAM which isn't available for PC. They aren't going to be more powerful, but I wouldn't say they are completely outdated. Extremetech has a pretty good rundown on the subject.

Its true, consoles are essentially HSA machines already, Xbox One even more so due to the extra efficiencies in the pipeline thanks to the data move engines. In addition, the GPU has access to super-low latency SRAM.

People jumping to conclusions over power but he specifically says architecture. The X1 wasn't designed for brute force but to help expedite resources that would normally remain idle during workloads.

The PS4 has some changes in the graphics core that make it a real power house. This shouldn't be surprising as consoles have always had a bit more finesse than PC's brute force.

I think this is the part everyone yelling our "Quad Titans!!" and "Xeon" are forgetting, and I think the price is more likely to be 600-700...
I threw the object of money out the window after this: "Bests current high-end PC's". High-end. I don't think they understand what that means tongue.gif The console may be $500-700, but high-end starts from there and explodes.
