Athlon X4 750K vs i3? - Page 4

Athlon 750K is an excellent choice versus the i3 gaming wise ,versus the Phenom power consumption wise and versus FX quad price and power consumption wise.

AM3 + is the route for six and octo cores though .

Exactly an APU is only good for a low end GPU...

Good luck pairing a 78xx or 79xx GPU with one and have no bottlenecks.

Quite silly that folk even mention an APU when there are much better options from AMD.

A 4+1 phase can be enough for a decent overclock as well. I'm running a Phenom II x4 965 at 4.2Ghz on a MSI 970A-G45. I am surprised it isn't dead yet, after over a year running this overclock.

If you need to buy now I would recommend the FX-6300 or FX6350 depending on whichever is the better deal. Or you can wait for Haswell to see if the newer i3 processors can be overclocked because that would turn the i3 from mediocre to amazing.

APU-s are budget stuff man ,nobody will buy FM2 if he has more money in the pocket.
Unfortunately a lot of people start to skip the PC spending and go for the cheapest route and ,guess what ,right there there is the FM2 APU-s smile.gif

This thread i s about 750K versus an i3 i hope you read the thread title before posting

But this doesn t mean you can t play any game at over 30FPS at 1920X1080 on this platform.

The new six core will change the game though later this year.

I can play on my 5600K rig any game and i will add a 6670 just ofr curiosity soon even though the purpose of the rig is not gaming.

I see that the OP topic has skewed just a bit but in reference to the original question... If you are talking about pure bang for buck, the 750K wins by a long shot. Passmark rates processors based on their "passmark" score divided by its price. The 750K is currently ranked #1 in that category. I know Passmark isn't the most revered bench but it says something about the bang to buck ratio.

Forgive me if I am wrong here but where is a 6 core APU ever mentioned as fact on socket FM2? The next big hike for APU's will be kaveri which may not even be on FM2

It s excellent value man.It s unlocked ,you can tweak the NB speed in a nice amount and this brings nice increases as i ve seen myself with my 5600K.
