Need helping find video card drivers for HP MSI MS-6577 motherboard.

I'm helping my friend with his computer. He has a HP a306X computer. I changed it from XP to windows 7 and everything is working fine except for the video. I need to install a driver and I cant find anything for windows 7. I tried looking on HP website but they only support XP drivers. I'm not sure what to do, should I buy a AGP video card? if so how would I know its 4x or 8x. I know this is old technology.

a dedicated GPU would be best. The website shows that the motherboard has support for AGP 4x only. An easy and cheap way to fix this is to go to your local Ma and Pa computer shop and ask for one. They usually have old stuff like that lying around, and if you're nice they may just give it to you for either dirt cheap or just for free.

I usually get old ram this way. thumb.gif

I'm not sure, but here is my best guess.

onboard graphics reside in the motherboard's chipset. HP lists this motherboard as having an Intel 845g-b chipset. I did a quick search for that and found this: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=757&DwnldID=8178&ProductFamily=Embedded+Components&ProductLine=Embedded+Chipsets&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+845+Chipset+Family&DownloadType=Software+Archives&lang=eng

It's the latest drivers for that chipset directly from Intel! However, I don't see support for anything after XP. If you can find a vista driver, then I would give it a shot. Other than that, I don't know what else to do.

I tried that already and it didn't work. However, I installed it in windows xp compability mode and it worked. Finally....................!thumb.gif
