GTX 780 or HD7970 6GB

i7 3930k
ASUS Rampage IV Extreme
Corsair AX850
32gb 1600 RAM
Fractal Design XL R2
Currently 2x 24" 1080p monitors and a 42" 1080p TV

Planning on either 3x 1600p monitors or more likely a 30" 1600 with 2x 20" in portrait on each side.

Games:
EVE Online (Multiple clients running at a time)
Farcry 3
Crysis
Metro Last Light
Tomb Raider
And more soon hopefully (Definitely looking to get into 1440p/1600p gaming)

Was thinking about pulling the trigger on the 7970 6GB but with the 780 coming out today and being a baby titan I am thinking about going that route.

The extra hundred bucks might be worth it but honestly not sure. Looking for input here.

For 3 screens go dual 7970 3GB.

Might be a tad more expensive than a single 780 but it will provide better results when using multiple screens.

Why the dual 3GB over the 6GB? Is the VRAM not going to be an issue?

Nope, 7970 6gb is only $550.

if you play eve i would look into the gtx 780s, because crossfire isn't activated in window mode. but i think sli is always working. so if you play a lot of eve and you want to run on three 30 inchers look at nvidia, also i would pay an extra $150 for the extra ram on the 7970, at the end of the day its still a 7970 that's almost 2 years old.

if you absolutely need 6GB's then go ahead with 7970, personally I would prefer dual 7970's 3GB because you are not going to be able to hit the 3GB limit unless you are running Skyrim with some insane textures, or modding other games with texture packs.

Haha probably won't do 3 30 inchers in reality. But 1 30" and 2x 20" in portrait is a possibility.

I also feel like when multiboxing in EVE having 8-10 clients open the VRAM would be useful as well. (Obviously some are tabbed)

For 2 1600p, I'd go with 780 and sli in the future. AMD seems to always struggle with drivers and crossfire.
