I'll check your mounting. And your CPU fan settings, 100% fan at idle is not correct
And your thermal paste spread

I'm waiting on thermalpaste that I ordered but I reseated the CPU and now the temps are as follows using Prime 95

Min says 0 and max says 24, yet in BIOS it's saying 34 idle temps. Fan is still the same speed no matter what (3100RPM). Does this sound right?
(Bonus points if you know the movie)

I hope my motherboard isn't buggered, it's a brand new one from MSI. Everything is set to Auto on the fan controls in BIOS. Any ideas how to troubleshoot?

OK something definitely doesn't feel right. The fan control is disabled entirely now in BIOS and it's back to full RPM on the fan itself.

Here are my temps upon bootup and Prime 95:

If a CPU is being fried because it's too hot, will it stop working entirely or show signs of slowdown? Right now I can't even trust that the motherboard will have safeguards in place if the CPU gets dangerously hot?

Reset your CMOS battery, enable C1E and cool and quiet, see what happens.

Can you control the CPU fan in speedfan? here are the steps you need to manually set the fan speed.

If this is stock it must be a bad seat. Put a rice grain drop of paste and that's enough.

71.3ºC for Trinity APUs, thermal shutdown being around 80-85ºC

And don't worry too much. Stupid CPU sensor reports are wrong.

I've been testing my A10-5700 with a flat probe right besides the die (2mm to its side to be precise), contacting the heatsink base and it never rose above 47ºC while Coretemp/HWMonitor were reporting temperatures in excess of 75ºC.

If you're worried though, get a cheap low profile cooler like the CM Gemini or the Scythe Shuriken.
